There's certainly a lot that could make this legitimate, but I'm personally a bit wary about this even existing until I see some screenshots or video clips.

This is just going to make fanboys even more angry.
Also, they're both boring.
Also, olympics? Zs.

That's great and all, but that is pretty...mismatched. Mario would never be able to keep up with Sonic on the race track, at least not in a foot race.
Anyway, I'm skeptical at the moment.

If it has Sonic in it, and its 3D, its going to suck. No exceptions.

This is the solid clue that Sonic is going to be in the next Smash Bros. It is just too large of an opportunity for Sega to pass up at this point.

Let's see, a cross-over of epic proportions, pitting the two most well-known video game mascots of all time against each other in...the Olympics?

When will they make Mario Vs. Sonic? That would be the best. You would start in your native levels (Sonic in Green Hills, etc.) and as you progressed to smash the other mascot, you would slowly work your way through their levels.
I'm pretty much half-kidding here.

I'd love to see them star in a platform game... not so sure I like this idea myself of the Olympics, but cool pic...

I'd really like to see a game where Bowser eats all of Sonic's stupid friends and Eggman tries to marry Peach then Sonic and Mario have to team up. Mario would ride on Sonic's shoulders and while he was running Mario would shoot fireballs at robots. This is how a real Sonic/Mario team-up should be.

I hope Bonk, Alex Kidd, and other failed mascots (including the Noid) show up on the North Korean Olympic team to kick their asses.

I am dissapointed in most of you. I mean wow. Looking at this thread is like reading comments on YouTube... seriously... lighten up a bit. Sheesh... not a screenshot, videoclip or ANYTHING and you're all ranting about Mario vs Sonic like this is Newgrounds or something. Let's see, a cross-over of epic proportions, pitting the two most well-known video game mascots of all time against each other in...the Olympics? I see nothing wrong with that... as the olymipics has been the biggest international sporting event this planet has ever seen. Sonic is known for his speed and acrobatic stunts, and Mario is known for his acrobatic jumping so it's actually pretty suitable. Let's see what they have in mind first. This is just going to make fanboys even more angry. Also, they're both boring. Also, olympics? Zs. -GoTaS Also, if you ask me...YOU sound like the angry fanboy. Vyse, I hope you're joking. That sounds like a bad idea for a flash movie.... and I KNOW you're better than that. If it has Sonic in it, and its 3D, its going to suck. No exceptions. You can't even wait until it comes out?

Heh..Well I mean sure..it's good probably but honestly Ninjarygar you should be able to understand the sentiments here, what would have once been the single most spectacular gaming event (Mario VS Sonic offically) is occuring first apparently in a game based on the Olympics.
Yes the olympics are popular (and it's an intelligent move in a business sense) but Olympic games to my knowledge aren't exactly popular with non-casual gamers.
I'd hate it if this game turned out to be a collection of 12 poor button mashing minigames. Why did it have to be one of the least inspiring genres. Maybe they'll pull of something great but if you'd have asked me before to do what would be the first game Sonic and Mario would star in together I'll admit Olympic Mascot game would have easily been the near to last genre I would have put forth.

Also, if you ask me...YOU sound like the angry fanboy. I'm still pissed over Sonic taking Alex Kidd's place as Sega's golden champion. You caught me. -GoTaS
