The Ys series has one of the best video game sound tracks still to this day. The sound tracks I am speaking of are the ones for the NEC Turbo Duo/ PC Engine. I still have all 4 parts to this series and continue to play them from time to time. Even though the Ys games are well made with a good story & nice cut scenes, I believe the music is what drives me to keep playing this great game...............

I'm only familiar with the music from Ys I & II but I'm a big fan of those soundtracks. I've never played the games, but like alot of the tracks. It's tough for me to enjoy music from games I've never played but I somehow took a liking to Ys music quickly.

Yeah, I've always wanted to dig deeper into the franchise, I just didn't for a long time because of the multitude of consoles and versions the games have had. I do someday plan on going through it, because the article on this site can help act as a guide for knowing what version to play. My favorites are "First step toward wars", "To make the end of battle", "ruins of moondoria", "ice ridge of nolta" and "stay with me forever". But the whole soundtrack is great.

This may give me some smites, but I don't really like the original two soundtracks except for ingame use. Don't get me wrong, I like "Wielders of Power", "First step towards wars" and the theme for Darm Tower (the name escapes me), but somehow I can't think of ever putting that on a CD to listen to on a regular basis.
That being said I do enjoy listening to other OSTs that I feel are more than just moodsetters and bloodracers, such as Red Alert 2 and Cowboy Bebop.

Although I wasn't overly impressed by the music in the famicom ports of Ys I & II, the famicom Ys III soundtracks is amazing and is probably better overall than the SNES music.

The music in the PSII games is pretty damn sweet.
Falcom hasn't really announced many games lately(I doubt they have the whole company working on Eiyuu Densetsu 7.) But they have been doing a bunch of concerts.
