I know this isn't technically game music, but all the songs on the album were written by well-known game music composers...
Is there anyone here who's heard this album? They took a bunch of well-known people from the game music field (Yoko Shimomura, Kenji Ito, Yuzo Koshiro, Shinji Hosoe, Sanodg) and had them write songs based around the limitation of an FM Synth Chip sort of like what the X68000 computers had.
Some of the songs (especially Yoko Shimomura's "The Absolute Primitive", which would have been right at home in Parasite Eve...) are just incredible, with the songs actually taking advantage of the ancient hardware they were working with...
If you haven't heard it, search it out, it's awesome.

I love PC98 style FM synth, I'll definitely check this out. Thanks for the info.
I'd also recommend any Touhou music (Mystic Square in particular) from Shanghai Alive for having awesome FM chip tunes.
