So I decided to place this here judging by the fact that it is an emulation of sorts so... Super gameboy. And Colour? Does it work for Gameboy Color games, or is that a no go?

Nope. It doesn't work with GBC only games (clear carts). It does work with GBC compatible games though (black carts). Some even have some really cool borders.

I've tried with a couple GBC games here - my (first version) Super Gameboy won't work with Metal Gear Solid or Pokemon Crystal. Strangely, Pokemon Crystal doesn't even have an error message in it - it just blackscreens. Whereas MGS displays a cute chibi Mei Ling that tells you you'll need a GBC to play it.

Metal gear and Pokemon Crystal are GBC only games. Those don't work with the SGB.

Damn. I wanted to get this for Metal Gear Solid... I guess it's a GBASP that I'll have to settle for.

One cool thing about the GB Conker's Pocket Tales, is that if you play it on the GB you get one game and if you play it on the GBC you get a completely different one.

That's actually pretty awesome. Is it a good game? I enjoyed Bad Fur Day back when I was younger so is that game any fun?

Meh... well. It's ok. It's an overhead collectathon from RARE. You know how it goes.

Having a Game Boy Player to handle having all my GB, GBC and Advance games on a tv from a single unit is the only reason I still have a Gamecube.
Gamecube's are pretty cheap now, I'd almost say it's worth getting one and a GB Player (despite how much more that would cost than getting a Super Game Boy for your SNES) due to the functionality. You don't get the Super Game Boy borders or options but it save a lot of hassle. There were official kits that allowed GBC games to be played on a tv through the N64 but these are going to be prohibitively expensive. I do think Datel made an N64 one that will do it.

Uhhh... I thought the GB Player didn't play GB carts?

The Gamecube GB Player plays any GB, GBC, and GBA game. You may be thinking of the various third party devices from Majesco/etc. that came out prior to the GB Player since they do GBA and nothing else. You even have a few background color options if you don't like spinach, though Super Game Boy-centric titles like Metroid II/etc. will display as if they're on a regular Game Boy. You haven't lived until you've played GB Bionic Commando on a 57" plasma. The "pixels" are like the size of my hand.

Hmmm... I never bothered to put in a GB cart. I always thought it wasn't compatible

God damn it!!! Why must one have so little time!
I just got an idea of collecting all the screens you get from putting a GBC game on a GB. Sort of like what that PC Engine site did with the PC Engine CD games when you put them on a previous console version.
I'm still hoping that someone opens an archive with all the little icons you get when you save a game on every console. Also, all the NDS icons that appear... somewhere. I know some ROM release sites include such icons.
