www.hardcoregaming101.net/cloudmaster/cloudmaster.htmThis is another one of those articles where I investigate the background of some old lousy Sega Master System game. As it turns out, this one is SLIGHTLY relevant, because a remake was recently released for the Wii in America under the name The Monkey King: The Legend Returns. An odd game to remake, to be sure. Anyway, without getting into too much detail, Cloud Master / Chuka Taisen is a fairly mediocre side scrolling shooter from Taito that takes place in China and features a vaguely Monkey King-ish style character flying on a cloud.

On a slightly more serious note, O my god.
On a serious note, sweet a new article I'll be getting to reading.
After Reading: The article was quite good. If a little short. The game even looked mediocre, although the graphics where interesting.

WOW, it looks like that was just announced last month...its name looks like Daiseiou, a much more serious version using the same engine. Weird. I wonder if UFO will bring it out here too...?

Dai-Sei-Ou is based on a Hong Kong comic of the same name*. The comic itself is a stylized adaption of the Journey to the West story (Monkey King, Saiyuki etc etc). It's interesting to see they're basing it on a comic that isn't Japanese, but I get the feeling that they're using it just for the Monkey King story/theme again *Well it's the same kanji characters and the same meaning, but in Hong Kong (Cantonese) it would be pronounced as 'Dai-Sing-Wong'. The comic is also known as 'Saint'

Very odd, seems almost typical for the Wii to get such an odd game though.

I just read this. I never knew Saint was part of something bigger! It's a really bad game, by the way. The gameplay itself is old school, and not in a good way. Your hitbox is huge and later enemies take way too many hits to kill. The Space Harrier segments only let you aim in the center of the screen, meaning that enemies on the sides and corners are impossible to kill.
This is more of a personal thing, but I don't like holding the WiiMote sideways.
As a kusoge, Saint was more than worth the two dollars I bought it for. If I were expecting something good, I would have been very disappointed.

The correct sequel to Chuka Taisen is Insector X.

The correct sequel to Chuka Taisen is Insector X. Which in fact is also developed by Hot-B.
