Someone should write about Battle K-Road and Dino Rex. We'll have a nice little Kuso-ge edition of updates.

Honestly, every time I read about Action 52, see the pictures of Action 52 or watch a video of Action 52, I feel like Im gonna puke. Seriously!
Thats why I've never tried it. Id probably puke on my controller.

This is the first time I've so much as glanced at the article since writing it, and I'm actually a little embarrassed about the grammar and flow in a few spots, but if I start making revisions, I'll nitpick the thing to death (slightly OCD)
There's just two corrections that I'd really like to see made, both of which are spelling errors. In the second paragraph for the nes version, startevil is supposed to be starevil. In The first paragraph for the genesis version, Colour a Dinosaur should be Color a Dinosaur. Please and thank you.
MP83 - I'd LOVE to see Streemerz, Bonkers, Time Warp Tickers, and The Ooze revived, along with maybe a few others.

Nice work Jave. I really enjoyed your article. Did you include all info about the company you could find? It would be really interesting to know who these guys were, and what were they thinking.

This all reminds me of Ikiki. Although his games are good... there should still be DS compilation someday for his games. I'd cry to be honest.

Did you include all info about the company you could find? I left out quite a bit actually, mostly because 98% of what I know about Active, I learnt from Mike Sanders and Cheetahmen Corner, and I didn't want to just scalp his website and put my name on it, so I focused more on the games themselves and my own experience playing them.

Christ, this game is the crowning achievement of shit. I can't imagine what the disappointment would feel like to get this as a gift or to actually buy this. An FAQ on gamefaqs says that it was originally sold for $200 when it was released. Horrifying.

I added one of the doujin MP3s to the MP3 file, if anyone's interested. It's a good song!

I don't know if you guys have seen this, but the Angry Video Game Nerd goes through all 52 games (or almost) in his latest video: www.cinemassacre.com/2010/04/30/avgn-episode-90-action-52/I don't get this. Action 52 is not even funny bad, it's just bad. And if there was any joke in this game, at 200$, it was on you. I think it's the only videogame rarity item that sells for considerably less than its original retail price.

There were two games on the cart that didn't work at all for him, but it doesn't seem that is mentioned in the article... did they work for the author?

As I understand it, Alfred N the Fettuc and Jigsaw only work in some emulators, but not on actual NES hardware.

I've heard different stories about which games don't work and under which conditions. All 52 games run fine in the Mac version of Nestopia, but it's sketchy on some other emulators, sometimes to the point where none of them run.
I played the game on an actual cart way back in the day, and I remember the game would freeze and need to be reset about four to six times in succession before it would start running properly, and I sort of remember not being able to play certain games, it was a long time ago, and needless to say, A52 isn't exactly memorable.
There's a lot of things I'd like to amend about this article though, to the point where it might be best to just keep the screens and rewrite all the text from scratch.

Two bloggers have been covering every game on the Action 52 in a series for about the past year and half or so at a place called Gamescrap. Just the Cheetamen are left. www.gamescrap.com/scraps/action-52-nes-1991/index.phpI wouldn't say they've got the best quality articles I've ever read and some of their jokes are unfunny or offensive but they do provide about 3-5 minutes of video for every game and usually get all the way through so you have to respect their tenacity. Articles about stuff like this are great to have, but nothing really shows how bad these games are than watching the NES slowly die in front of your eyes, with none of the suffering of actually playing. While Jigsaw is such a mess that I can understand it not running on most systems, Alfred N the Fettuc is more or less the exact same as at least two other games. Sure, it's easy to break a game but you'd think their shameless copying would prevent it. Remarkable what you can "accomplish" when you just don't care.

This is probably a bit off-topic, but someone should fire the web designer of Gamescrap (unless they intentionally used a crappy web design for their site to go with the theme).
