It's too bad SoD2 is a big load of carp, but at least it exhibits the finest power of the NES' audio qualities. \m/ Not surprising, since Rob Hubbard made the music. Now,the article totally needs a MP3 from the C64 Skate Or Die title song and it's A-OK!

Great. Glad you dug it. Now,the article totally needs a MP3 from the C64 Skate Or Die title song and it's A-OK! I've already tried looking for this. Does anybody have any clue where to get that track on .mp3?

I can rip the SID file to an MP3. This isn't going to go live for at least a week anyway so there's plenty of time.

I didn't really think the two GB games were that bad. Yes, memorization had to be done, but nobody complains about having the memorize the levels in games like R-Type, In The Hunt, or Metal Slug 2. (and yeah, I realize that they're a different genre, but it seems like many types of games back then required that sort of thing)

Just wanted to mention a couple things about the DOS version of ski or die(the only game in the series I've played much of.). I can't say how the other versions played in comparison, but the article states that you can't do tricks in Downhill Blitz even though you can do several different jumps. If memory serves you push enter, and one of the direction keys. I also disagree that it's one of the worst parts of the game (Different strokes maybe?). I always enjoyed cutting corners on the way down and navigating the narrow shortcuts to get the best possible time. I also think you're selling short the Acro Aerials. You can use the whole keypad to do tricks and the arrow keys to get speed. And there is a system to it. Furthermore I wonder why you say the MS-DOS version is the worst of the bunch; It's graphically superior to the NES version, and I can't find any damning flaws in it. So, rant rant rant. I'm sorry but I played this game a lot when I was little, and I don't like it when something seems like an obvious console-bias.

I checked a YouTube video of the play-through of the NES version of 2 and I don't see anything about "destroying the mayor's wife" (she just complains, next cut scene is the demolition of the half-pipe, then them trying to raise money).
But it does feature the player character running over the old lady's dog. For censorship-era NES, that's pretty dark.
