www.hardcoregaming101.net/rivalschools/rivalschools.htmStill needs some combing over, plus the MP3s and videos need uploading, but otherwise it's mostly complete. This, along with Marvel vs Capcom, is what got me back into 2D fighters after abandoning them in the 16-bit era. It hasn't quite held up, but it's still a fun series, with some interesting spinoff ideas (although I personally find the sim stuff boring as hell, so it's no big loss that they were never translated. I would've liked to play the board game from Project Justice in English though.)

Kyosuke isn't the only Rival Schools character to appear in Capcom VS SNK 2 - his special move, Final Grade Remix, temporarily summons Batsu and Hinata to totally whoop on your opponent (much in the style of Morrigan's Darkness Illusion).

I played the game (United by Fate), it was okay but I was really looking for RPGs at the time so I kinda passed over it. I like Kyosuke on Capcom vs SNK 2, though.

Every time I'd match my brother on CvS 2, he'd pick Kyosuke by himself. He'd always beat me because he was a button-masher.

You haven't seen button masher until you've played my mother at the Gamecube version of Capcom vs SNK 2. It's like she was trying to play that run away from the slime by tapping A minigame from Mario Party 4. She's okay at Soul Calibur but she sorta button mashes at that too.

Oh shit yes! After having acquired Project Justice for a relatively low price recently, I can say that RS/PJ kicks oh-so much ass. It's a 3D fighter that's actually really good and anyone can get into it, and with such great character designs too. Batsu? He's a cool guy that's equal parts determined, angry, and spirited; a good representation for the central character. Shoma? Don't tell me you've never wanted to pelt your opponent with baseballs, though I've bet you've beaten them with a baseball bat at least once. Edge? Yeah, that guy's a certified knifing psycho, described as a crossbreed between Benimaru and Yamazaki, which I can totally see. Nagare? One of the weirdest damn characters ever in a fighter, but I like him regardless, especially for his hilarious team-up technique. Hideo? A Japanese schoolteacher who happens to be a master in karate... now don't tell me that's not cool. Kyoko? TOTAL HOTNESS. I always give extra points for glasses. Yurika? I never thought I'd see a violin being utilized as an actual weapon in ANY game, but there you have it.
And the list goes on. Excellent article, Kurt! ;D

I used to play Rival Schools: United by Fate on PS1 a lot. I wasn't aware of all those extras found from the Japanese version. Great article, Kurto! ;D

I always like Rival Schools even though to me most of the characters were modeled much like Ryu in Street Fighter (Fireball, Dragon Punch, etc.) Still enjoyable though. Seeing how Sakura is in the game, does Ran Hibiki have some kind of connection with Dan Hibiki? And I liked Kyosuke in Capcom vs. SNK 2 I thought he was way better addition than Maki

Maki was another bullshit addition, she looks way too much like Mai.
Lucia from Final Fight 3 would've been cooler, even though she technically looks a bit too much like King...but she wasn't in CvS 2, was she?
Anyway I checked the Japanese manuals and they don't mention anything about Dan, although one FAQ brought it up too, so it might be worth mentioning.

Well he was born in China but lives over here. Although Chinese nationals tend to hate like.......everyone. Maki was another bullshit addition, she looks way too much like Mai. Don't get me started on the Capcom VS games the best one was the NGPC game SVC Chaos would have been good if it was lest spastic and broken. you should do the Capcom VS/ SNK VS games sometime as an article.

Yay this game finally gets an article. For mp3s, be sure to add Seijyun Girls High School Cortyard for Project Justice.

Heh, pretty goofy article for a definitely goofy series. :)
My boyfriend's brother frequently chooses Kyosuke in CvS2 too, much to my boyfriend's chagrin, hehe.
I like that Maki is in it, though; she's pretty damn sexy, way hotter than Mai at least.
