Might as well post this, then, since it came up in another topic: www.hardcoregaming101.net/blackthorne/blackthorne.htmLike the article says, it's basically Prince of Persia with Guns, plus an extra helping of Attitude. I grew up playing the PC version, which had a completely different soundtrack from the SNES one.

LOL, good timing.
Gee, do the 32X sprites look shitty.

"Blackthorne was initially released for the SNES and PC around the same time. Given that the PC version suffers from the usual console limitations (password feature without a save, no real control config), but the PC version has some gore effects that were censored out of the SNES version. "
It should say SNES version there.

Nah, that's correct, I should just rephrase it. What I mean is, it's obvious it was made to the console and then ported to the PC with little effort into tailoring it for the platform.

Interesting article. I remember reading about this game ages and ages ago in an old issue of GamePro and made a point to try and hunt this one down eventually. That said, I think I can pass, but still a good read.
Also, just a couple quick typos I found:
"at the star[t], the bad guys will fire a set number of shots before reloading, but eventually, it'll become random, forcing you to think your foot. And soon enough, you'll come across enemies that don't need to reload at all"
"[T]emember, this is years before Grand Theft Auto and other similar games, where murdering innocent people is something the player simply does for fun."

Slick article, I like the game a lot. I'd shoot the prisoners after I thanked them for the help, facing the other way of course. Oh, and I'm about 99 percent sure the Mac version is the same as the 32X, not the SNES/PC. When I loaded it up in Mac OS 9 a few years ago I remember being taken aback by the weird pre-rendered characters; I was used to the SNES one.

I read somewhere that it was but couldn't find any concrete info. You've more or less confirmed it, though. Thanks!

Hey wasn't Blizzard Interplay back in the days of Rock & Roll Racing?
(By the way, if someone can find me a copy of Rock & Roll Racing 2: Red Asphalt, I'm willing to pay.)

Interplay published many of their titles.

Wow, I don't know where I got the idea that Interplay transformed into Blizzard. Maybe I dreamed it.

I could have sworn that Ocean changed into Blizzard, with one of their first console games being the god-awful Death and Return of Superman. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, though.

I could have sworn that Ocean changed into Blizzard, with one of their first console games being the god-awful Death and Return of Superman. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, though. They were known as Blizzard when Death and Return of Super Man came out. Rock 'n Roll Racing, RPM, and Lost Vikings and a few others predated it. Blizzard was known as Silicon & Synapse when they first started making games. Wikipedia info on BlizzardGame footage of Death and Return of Superman showing Blizzard logo

Death and Return of Super Man wasn't bad. At least not when compared to all the other Superman games.

Is there any differences on the ending screen of the PC/32X versions? A servant in bikini maybe?

I don't think Blizzard actually developed Death and Return of Superman.
