Well, I added a few new screens (including of the new boss) and rearranged/rewrote it a bit, but honestly there's still not much to say about it. I don't really see the pacing or level design being any better than the original (though it is a marked improvement over the GBA version, if only that the bosses actually look right.)

Wow, I honestly was not expecting the article to change so quickly It's looking better now, the extra effort is very much appreciated! Edit: I would suggest a minor alteration regarding the following sentence: "There's no level branching, though there are eight levels in total, including a boss rush at the end" While mostly correct, there are actually two boss rush stages (level 4 and 8). About the pacing: GB -Sagaia's level design shares many similarities with the original Darius, but it moves at a slightly slower pace and the screen does not get quite as crowded. Usually that would not be considered a good thing, but in this case I believe that it gives the game more room to breathe, more negative space so to speak. But I guess that's a matter of personal preference and since Sagaia was my first Darius game I might be a little biased.

A much needed rewrite, since the original picked on the most ridiculous reasons to hate the game.
Honestly, I like the first game, much more than the second. The 3 screens lenght and 3 bullets on screen is really bothersome, but otherwise its a solid and fun shmup where you must manage your powerups well (usually trying to not have the laser when you get to fight fatty glutton). also the stage desing, enemy formations and good balance of use between shot and bombs is noteworthy.
I wasnt very keen on the second one because yout ship is twice as big and the enemies' sprites are barely any bigger from the first game. Also having your powerups reset to plain zero on death. Both the PCengine versions of both game are definite improvements over their original versions. Super Darius is an awesome game, tough the stages are very long (I think you loop twice trough the stage before you get to the boss
BTW About Darius Force, it carries on with darius 2 idea of losing everything on death, and something which is a big annoyance is that the game fades in/out INCREDIBLY SLOW, which makes dying really annoying.
Also, the arcade version of Darius Gaiden seems to have a nasty bug, according to youtube user MathUDX (the only guy on youtube with videos showing you can beat that game with the default autofire, instead of the tool assited autofire which even breaks the game at some spots). The bug happens at zone B, and it apparently makes your rank skyrocket for no reason.
I can vouch for this since i played the arcade and taito legends 2 versions, and on TL2 version the boss of zone B is nowehre near as resistant ans in the arcade version.

These costumes probably were campy as fuck even in the 80s, and that's why I love them

Well, if you have ever seen the original The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy BBC series, or - to a lesser extent - Blake's 7, you'd not bat an eye at those costumes .

Yeah, the PSP Burst is great for the console's standards, what with the portability and such! It's still a bit too simple, and the lack of multiplayer kinda sucks too.

The PSP version of Burst was already great. I agree. It does not feel quite as spectacular as G Darius, but the more you play it, the more you realize that it was really designed to be a game for a portable device (something most games for handheld-consoles do not acknowledge properly). The main arcade mode and the mission modes are ideal to be played in relatively short bursts (pun definitely intended)!

Two more DLC packs are coming for DBCS: one for Cave (DoDonPachi DaiOuJou, Ketsui and Deathsmiles) and one for Raizing (Battle Garegga, Soukyugurentai and Sorcer Striker).

Time for Capcom to join the DLC train:
They should change the title of the game in "Darius: STG All-Stars" at this point.

Side Arms, Varth and Progear. Nice, but why not 1944?
Well, since they're at it, here I'm hoping for an Irem pack, Konami pack and SNK pack.
