I'm down for a couple matches (of anything) right now. Hit me up in the IRC room or on my AIM.

Gah, sorry for quitting on you ShellShock. I thought that my dad was kicking me out of the computer room but it turns out he was just giving me something.

Woo finally went up against Sotenga last night and the man schooled me at MvC with a win ratio of 4:1. Wholesome controller-throwing fun.
A bit of messing around in the Alpha games seems to indicate that the input motions need to be smooth and sliding my thumb like mad across the d-pad like the Vs. games won't cut it. Shellshock-sensei also gave my thumbs a workout with beginner combo training.
Went up against my first Garou opponent today and did quite well with a win ration of 1:2. Not bad for just 10 minutes of practice. Though is it normal for the B button to be a kick instead of the other punch?

Though is it normal for the B button to be a kick instead of the other punch? That's usually how it is in SNK fighters. A - light punch B - light kick C - hard punch D - hard kick There are a exceptions to the rule, but if you're sticking with Garou or KoF, that's how they pretty much all are.

^^^ Yes.
Ace: Keep practicing the low-medium-kick into hadouken combo. Once you get right, you'll be able to combo on most old-school fighters with the same timing! As a general rule, most SNK/Capcom fighting-game characters have a regular hit (be it medium or high kick/punch) that cancels into any special move or super. Try to find this move as soon as you start playing with a new character, and then move from 2 hit combos into 3, 4, 5, and more hits.

I used to play on Mame Kaillera years ago a lot, but haven't in a while. I don't even know if anybody still does, or if nowadays everything revolves about Xbox Live and/or arcade compilations with online capabilities. So, anybody up for some 2D fighting/beat'em-up action through MAME? If there's something better, I'll install it, but I don't have an Xbox 360 or PS3. I know of a nice app called "Classic Gaming Arena" (CGA). It's a small chat application where you meet up with people to play direct peer to peer emulated 2 player games (similar to kaillera). CGA supports zsnes, virtuanes, and KEGA Fusion. Basically you tell CGA where your emus and roms are, log into CGA and create a room. The person who joins your room can optionally download the rom from you if necessary. CGA takes care of the network stuff and launches the game for you. It's a small community and the program is constantly updated. I haven't been there in a while but last I heard they were working on adding N64 and and modified version of MAME32K. Over there I played a couple of beat em ups like Double Dragon, SNES Ninja Turtles, Final Fight, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and many others. I don't think you'll have trouble finding someone to play with you but you can leave me a PM here if you want.

So my computer's (mostly) recovered from its debilitating encounter with a virus, so I'll be back on GGPO every now and then again.

I recently thought I'd give GGPO a shot, although I have yet to use it with anybody. The games they support are games I like, I figured why not.

Heads up to anyone interested. I'll be on 2DF playing Real Bout 2 from roughly 5:30 - 8:00 PM EST.
Edit: My name on 2DF is Dingo as well; I'll also be on AIM during that time, too.

Kind of bumping an old thread but, I recently just got into Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo after being into kof and ggx for like 7 years. I love the game, and you can probably guess who I've been practicing. I'm no good at all but I should be on GGPO most nights after 11:00 eastern time as marginwalker if you want to mess around. i sound like I'm soliciting sex acts.

As far as myself, I still have to get a decent pad.

The only thing I have is a ps2 pad. I hate it, doing TAP with boxer is a pain, supers come out half the time, going from downback to upback or back to down forward works around half the time. It's a mess but it's better than nothing. Would love a good usb stick.
*edit* if anybody wants to help me figure out why in ggpo, either during the character select screen or after the match, the game makes an obnoxious noise and freezes forcing me to end the session. then it tells me final burn has encountered a fatal error and needs to terminate :/

Nah, I play serious all the time, so I welcome it. Although it probably doesn't look like I do, but that's just because I don't know what I'm doing half the time. Some guy last night was doing this chun-like wake up game on me that just kept crossing me up and knocking me down over and over, most annoying thing ever. And I hate trying to get inside Sagat's tigers or Dhalsim's fireballs. But it's all good I hold no ill feelings toward the spamming of any move, whatever you do to win the match.
