Also there's the superb red herring amour you can find on a wall that all it does is make you slow and you will eventually trip and die. (This is in the 1st game).. Oh, the suit of armor? That was quite funny. Fun fact - I actually wrote a hint guide for this years ago. www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/ecstatic.phpIt's dated January 1996. Holy crap that was a long time ago. EDIT: Had NO idea there was a Gobliins 4. I always figured that Woodruff/Schnibble game was unofficially the fourth game.

Ha, you wrote one of those things? The UHS system and Books of Clues were pretty useful back when there were few online walkthroughs.

Haha, yup. It was my first paying "job" on the internet! This was also before the days of GameFAQs, when it was tough to find these things.

Why is Ecstatica listed as an individual game when there's a sequel?

As for Gobliins...I had one of them (the third one, I think?) but there were sound compatibilities with my old 486 so I never got very far. I should give it another go though, lots of people have been requesting it. Y'know, they're all supported by ScummVM these days.

Oh, and by the way, new copies of Ecstatica I & II are abundant at CD Access, your one-stop shop for rather overpriced older PC games.

hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ecstatica/ecstatica.htmThis is that funny little survival horror game where everyone is made of balls. But they're really neat, if pretty flawed. The first one has a particularly amusing and dark sense of humor too.[/ quote] I did not initially grasp your use of the word "balls" to not be referring to testicles. I was confused (and secretly disappointed) when I read the article. But I got over that.

But there actually IS, although it's hidden by a link. And you'd have to squint/resize the screenshot. It's....odd.

I liked the second when I played it 10 years ago and would like to try the first one now, but is it possible to play it with a laptop (i.e. without numerical keypad) ?

I could use some help on running Ecstatica 2. I can easily install it with dosbox from my CD, but the game seems to crash in a minute or so. Any idea why?
