Just a tiny thing, the Stalker class, according to AD&D, is a type of ranger. Basically they're better at stealth than a ranger, and maybe something to do with poison.

Wow, that second screen shot from the top of the article is really from a Super Famicom game? Those portraits look amazing for SFC, so detailed and colorful.
I seem to recall some magazine back in the day, maybe EGM, really pushing Brandish 2 for Super Famicom hard as a great game for importers in a small blurb.

Wait, there's a full version and you wouldn't contribute it? For shame!

It's nice to see some Brandish fans. I'm still working my way through it. It's really my 1st RPG taste... even then it's more of an ARPG.
I once heard someone say this about Brandish, and they may be right.
"It's the best worst game ever"

Does anyone happen to know who did the cover artwork for the PC98 versions of Brandish 1-3? I'd also like to know who did the cover for PC98 Dinosaur.

Not too long ago, I downloaded a Falcom artbook from DC++ - Falcom HIstory: Legend of Illustrations. While the art is generally nice, I don't have much emotional investment in Ys and Legend of Heroes, so I wasn't exactly drooling over it. Brandish, on the other hand... www.megaupload.com/?d=16KI9UNUThat's a Megaupload link to a zip that contains all the Brandish artworks and the artwork that was the partial source for the Dinosaur cover. EDIT: The Dinosaur artist appears to be 衣谷遊, Yu Kinutani) The Brandish art is 末弥 純, J(y)un Suemi Hope that helps!

Found another one here Not sure if it's from Brandish, but it's pretty damn awesome. Oh, and I found out the artist, Jun Suemi. I saw his stuff for Wizardry but it was never more than a suspicion until I found this page.

I dunno if this is just an emulation thing, but I just got an actual copy of Brandish for the PC Engine, and the turning is a lot quicker than that in the SNES version. When you turn in the PCEngine version it's basically instantaneous, whereas in the SNES version there's a very slight delay and you also have to hold the direction for a little longer.
Having said all that, the Brandish series is awesome from what I've played so far. The PC Engine version is really fun. I also have part 4 on my hard drive but haven't got into it yet.

Since this thread has been bumped, let me add a few things since I have completed play of SNES Brandish: -I liked it... quite a bit. I can see why some folks hate it, but IMO it gets a lot of undeserved flack. The game picks up in the Towers (2nd region of the game). Though some maps may seem samey at first, it's really got some brilliant layouts IMO -I beat it without the site Rey pointed to... much more satisfying that way -The last boss was easy IMO. I made short work of him, but then again, my levels were very high (I spent a good couple hours leveling up while listening to sports talk radio... haha good times) Yeah, "the best worst game ever" is pretty good title for it. Under appreciated if I say so myself. I liked the music and atmosphere of the game. Strafe FTW. Turn only when you have to. I did not find it nearly as disorienting as others say the game is.

Okay, went and played the SNES rom again to compare and I dunno why I thought the turning was slow in that version. However, the default movement speed is definitely slower than the movement speed in the pc engine version.
