Really r0ck3rz, the fuck? You kinda sounded like this bitch. I didn't bother to even click the link. I'm not condemning you for being what you are, I'm just saying, that's not how I am. If you're going to be an ignorant, you were better off not saying anything then.

I must be, because I still don't get your point, or why you're being overly sensitive to a few comments.
The first thing I said in this topic was made in a gesture of levity, nothing more.
The 2nd thing I said, was I don't find female character created through graphics/art attractive.
So What.The.Fuck.Are.You.Driving.At?

Quiet, the both of you. Petty arguments better us not.
On focus, I usually tend to choose male characters myself, but if there's a female I can kick ass with, I'd definitely choose her as well. Tends to fall around the realm of 70%M/30&F for me, something like that.

Female fighters in japanese fighting games often have very beautiful moves; and I like those games because they often look like a surreal dance. So the gals tend to be fast and graceful but still deadly. So I like to use them - not as much as fast male characters, but still. Exception taken with Dead or Alive; the female fighters tend to be easier to master, and overall more efficient. (no, I don't use them because of the jiggles, although it doesn't hurt in any way).
When in a MMO or such, I usually stick to characters of my gender. It is easier for me to indentify with a character of my gender. I would not pick a female Monster Hunter. (I don't even remember if you can do it, either).
It all boils down to immersion. If I'm kicking bubble-gum as Yoda in SC IV, I can as well have a go with Taki. But I don't feel comfortable with over-sexed Ivy-types, simply because those characters feel a bit tacky. But if I'm investing hours of play in a RPG / adventure whatever, then I will choose male.

I actually end up split pretty evenly between male and female characters, depending on whose aesthetic I like more and/or what kind of character I envisioned (in the case of RPGs). There's no real pattern to it.

I never understood this thing about preferring to stare at the butt of an opposite gender character while you play. If you're so intent on noticing the details of your avatar in a 3rd person game then obviously you're very bored with it IMO.
Oh and I have no personal preference to character gender. If a female character has the ultra-super-cheesy game breaking attack then by golly I'm gonna use her. Feminine mecha on the other hand... not much love for those. ;D

If a game has distinct advantages/disadvantages or a different play style between male and female roles (like in fighting games where the moveset is different for each character), I'll just judge each character individually. Usually I like agility over strength, so I'll lean towards female characters in fighting games.
If the game has no advantage or little advantage, I'll usually play male first, then female for replay value.
I do do shameless things like make all female parties in SW:KOTOR and strip them to their undies and make them run around. So don't think I think I'm enlightened or anything.

I love the human body when put into art of any form, so I tend to notice strange things others might not. And Atma, I love you. Agrias is kick ass, and Celes could make any girl gay!

I find it kind of creepy when a guy only picks female characters. Gives me the same kind of vibe as those half-naked anime lolita rooms we were looking at awhile back.
Although, on the other side of it, I find it sad when a female gamer always picks the female characters. I think it does a disservice to us, making developers think we only want to play as girly characters doing girly things, acting out our own lives. That's why developers still think they need to pitch Barbie games to expand the female gaming audience. We need to prove that we're happy to take on all kinds of roles in all kinds of games.
But the worst of the worst are male gamers that absolutely refuse to pick a female character or play a game with a female lead because it's such a threat to their masculinity.
Like all things in life, balance is the best way to go. I like gamers that will happily play as both male and female characters best.

I lean more towards female characters where story's involved, but male for an MMO since it's supposed to be me(or something).

It depends on the game, I also take onto account the design of the characters:
In fighting games I tend to play as females when I now learning the game as they tend to be faster but I usually end up with a male as my favorite, Ein in doa, maxi in Soul. In fact Pai from virtua fighter is probally my only female lead in a fighting game.
For RPGs it depends first on if there any differences, PSO I like the female ranger class. If there are no difference it depends on character design, in the crystal chronicles I have female lead but in legend of mana I play with the male because I like his design better.
I need to mention that I find it very hard to relate to most american designed male characters, they just tend to be too masculine. One of the few designs I likes in the past couple of years was Nathan Drake.
And finally if there is a yoshi in the game screw everyone else.

I usually pick men because I despise all women. (How many smilies do I have to insert to show sarcasm?)
