Rewind.
Sure, we're all familiar with frame-skip--that's been a staple since ZSNES. But how many emulators do you know of where you can rewind the game? It turns every game into Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with unlimited sand! Let's face it, if you're playing an NES game, there's a good chance it's ****ing hard. You're probably playing a platformer, a shooter, or any number of other games with mind-blowing difficulty. You probably thought you were safe with save states, but let's be honest: how many times have you been playing through something like Ninja Gaiden, reaching your finger towards the save button mid-level, only to have inadvertently been hit by something or fallen off a cliff in the split-second you were distracted with looking at the keyboard, and are then stuck loading a state in which you watch yourself die over and over? Rewind avoids this problem altogether!
It is an ingenious feature which should be implemented in every emulator. Forever.
(Also, I don't use the regular Nester emulator, but I assume if it's on the DS port it's probably on the regular version, too)

Several emus have that feature. ZSNES has it and VBA to name a couple. The only downside is that if you load a state, the rewind record is lost

This is too much cheating for me. Whatever happened to passwords?

Hey shellshock, the 90's called, they want their passwords back.

I like the way Nestopia handles rewind: it's not just saving states automatically every second, it will actually rewind the game in real time, a la Prince of Persia. =P

Ah, I see what you mean. Yes, that is a better way to do it!

Yeah, and I gotta say, it sure makes Battletoads more fun.

It turns every game into Braid. Which I think is cool. Or rather, Braid is the logical way of taking the rewind feature, and actually basing an entire game around it.
