Can anyone give me any sort of advice as to run the Duke? I've given Duke 3D a shot with this JFDuke application, found here: www.jonof.id.au/jfduke3dIt works mostly well, but the damn sound effects what I call a "crisp" to it, where everything sounds crackly and/or stuttering. If there's any way that can be taken care of, please let me know. The game runs damn fine otherwise, I just need this one thing to be fixed.

You'll probably be wanting to switch over to eDuke32 (it's a fair bit more up to date than JFDuke3D). Might fix your problems for you.

Just make sure you delete the crappy 3d models that they put in there (for the enemies at least). They're so atrocious and distracting It bums me out that for a game as great as Duke 3D, there's not any talented modelers out there capable of building respectable low poly models for the new engine rewrites. Doom similarly suffers from being hobbled by shitty 3d enemy models in its available high res bundles, too. Lots of really nice high resolution 2d art in there, though! Just wish the projects would attract more qualified low poly modelers

Solid! Thanks, sir. Now, a further question: What's the best application for running Shadow Warrior, Duke's less famed Far Eastern cousin?

Now, a further question: What's the best application for running Shadow Warrior, Duke's less famed Far Eastern cousin? You're going to want to be using SWP, which is also compatible with Wanton Destruction. WARNING: Shadow Warrior was stuck in development hell and did not emerge unscathed. While a lot of the levels are really neat and massive, the enemy placement is fucking terrible and the weapon design is incredibly weak. Difficulty balance is fucked, too. The Wanton Destruction expansion pack from Sunstorm fixes pretty much everything other than the weapons. Good lord did Sunstorm's A-Team make some fucking amazing expansion.

Holy hell, I didn't know they made a modern-compatible version but also a better-designed one! Roushi, infinite thanks.
