Any reason why these are not posted in the recent stuff section? Both look pretty good. Nice to see these go up.
Sotenga:
You could have asked about Wassily Kandinsky at this message board. I could have given you a far less full of shit explanation. Jerome Ashmore is a horse's ass. Doesn't bother me or anything, but I would not say that his comments are reasonable. The asswipe who wrote that thing that you consulted has way over romanticized what he was talking about. I can't believe people that full of it can get paid to write things like that. Like I said, it doesn't bother me, and I am getting into shit that nobody cares about, but Jerome Ashmore remains a fool. This isn't a painting message board, obviously, so whatever.

Sotenga:
I hope that did not come off the wrong way. I do not mean that you are full of shit, I mean that Jerome Ashmore is full of shit.

Uh, I thought it was a really good explanation. Why does it bother you?

I admire your articles and work you've put into this site (and your other sites) very much, Kurt, so please don't take this the wrong way but I feel the Taromaru article had a few misleading comments. Let me explain: 1. Taromaru and Enkai are similar but not identical. Certain bosses are much easier to defeat with one over the other. I can only assume that you wrote that part before going through the game again since I'm sure you noticed the differences. I've noted some stuff here (but haven't done any extensive testing): www.gamengai.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15452. Enkai's attack range is nearly full screen. Taromaru's attack is the one with limited range. Again, seeing that you were using Enkai at the end, I'm pretty sure you got this figured out but forgot to edit that part. 3. It's possible to switch from among all targets in range. 4. While attacking, you can still shield yourself from hits (as mentioned) and can still slide, which means you're always pretty safe. Anyway, as always, great coverage on a great game!

Cool, thanks. I actually did play through the game twice, one with each character (good to know his name now at least), but didn't notice any real difference. The targeting range for both seemed pretty erratic, like sometimes it would follow boss creates, but other times, it wouldn't. Something that more definitely indicated your range would've been nice. Also didn't know you could manually target enemies, although I figured you probably could - that one orb boss and the demon with the various bits of armor were really frustrating. It wasn't listed in the control config though.
My biggest problem is that you still can't run and attack at the same time, which would've greatly helped the gameplay overall.

Am I the only person who thinks of Sin and Punishment's side scrolling level when I watch videos of this on Youtube?

Whenever I play REZ, I can't help but think about evolution.
It's been a while but bear with me. The way the stages evolve... the way the player evolves... the messages in the last level... and even the way the bosses seem to represent evolution. How the first boss reminds me of a single celled organism, the second boss reminds me of a virus, or it could also be a deep sea lifeform, the third boss reminds me of a hive of insects, and the last boss itself evolves into many forms.... ending up as a man. The final boss is Eden... which could be the next step in human evolution.... digital life (something that's been discussed many times before). Even the way the player levels up can be seen as evolution... but only human evolution. ... or perhaps the levels the player takes represent the path to enlightenment.
It's been a while since I played rez actually. I really loved it though. I would turn off all the HUD while I played. My favorite track was Rock is Sponge. I hated the trance mission because the music sucks (it's just messed up sound... doesn't do it for me.)

It wasn't listed in the control config though. Heh, yeah, you probably turned one of the easiest boss fights in the game into one of the hardest. And the button config is actually one of my biggest beefs with the game; you can only change the 6 face butons and not L and R functions, which are defaulted to target switching. And even more unfortunate, L and R both switch to the next target rather than having one button for previous target and one for the next target (the dynamic targeting range probably killed that).

Well, ZZZ, I didn't write about Kandinsky. Lord knows my knowledge of fine art is severely limited. But I would like to extend a big thanks to Andy, Pat, and of course, Kurt for the additional information and editing the Rez article and getting it up on the site! ;D Oh, and I would say that the person I was five years ago would be a horse's ass, so no big there.

typo:
Boss 3 is mislabeled Uranus instead of Venus
url to Space Channel 5 article is misspelled (the last part says spacechannel6.htm!)
Sotenga, Vysethebold and Pat R., wow. Thank you guys for writing up a fantastic article for such a wonderful game. Greatest purchase I've ever made. Also, reference to Daft Punk? Amazing.
Can't say much about Shinrei Jusatsushi Taroumaru, but as always a great article to help educate gamers about games that otherwise are untouchable to most. Looks interesting to say the least.

Also, reference to Daft Punk? Amazing. I try and fit in any reference to anything I deem cool when appropriate. ;D
