...first off, if you like fighters and emulation, and you don't have this, do yourself a favor, stop reading and go to ggpo.net NOW.
Anyways, some questions.
I'm just wondering, the video/audio/input/etc. settings I set in ggpofba.exe will be used in ggpo.exe, right? In other words, they use the same .ini files, correct?
Another question, should I turn on the "Force 60Hz refresh rate"? What does it do, in plain English? Does it slow down the emulator substantially?
Also, what is ggpoair.exe?
Last, any tips on making the emulator run as fast as possible? Though, I won't go below 640 x 480 and 22khz.
If you want, post your GGPO id here. Mine is the same: jongoo. I'm a noob when it comes to fighters from the late 90's and on. I'm just catching up really. I'm learning Dudley in 3s and would also like to get decent at Garou. Not used to parrying yet.
Speaking of fighters, the last good one I got into was Blazblue. That was the first fighter since, like Tekken 3, I actually practiced.
Anyways, I'd appreciate answers, and maybe we'll play sometime. Live id is phantomgreyzero.

Another question, should I turn on the "Force 60Hz refresh rate"? What does it do, in plain English? Does it slow down the emulator substantially? I've not played anything using it, but I would assume from the text that it's going to force the game to run at a certain speed. It presumably wouldn't slow down the emulator so much as it would cause frames to be dropped to keep it running at the proper speed.

Dunno about video/audio but any input mappings you do on ggpofba offline will carry over to online.
ggpoair I believe is the runtime environment for the application and generally should not be tampered with.
Also, consider making an account on 2DF. It's nice alternative to GGPO when you can't seem to find players or can't connect to the latter and you only need a few minor child roms to add to your existing GGPO rom set.
I hang around the forum's IRC channel if you want to find me.

Well for one thing 2DF has replays that can be watched online and offline if you figure out where the files are stored locally (forum should have a thread about that). And since you launch the app from the site all your control mappings have to be done from there. Just highlight the game from the list and click the "play alone" button to launch the emulator and configure from there. I suppose you COULD copy your control config files from the GGPO folder to wherever 2DF stores them but I haven't tried this myself.
The biggest difference is how both apps handle lag. GGPO well...just lags. You're as fast as the slowest player. 2DF skips frames and at high levels of lag is practically impossible to play compared to GGPO, but them's the works...
