One thing I would like to see if it isn't covered too well elsewhere are Rareware N64 games. It's been such a long time since Rare released a really awsome game that I think people forget why there was such a fuss when they went over to Microsoft in the first place. If Rare in general doesn't work then I would like to see at least Banjo-Kazooie. Heck, I'd be half tempted to try and write it.
On the bad game front there's always the Aero Fighters series. An average series of shumps with tons of wierd characters (from ninjas to dolphins and just about everything inbetween) and SNK Engrish.

How about an article on Nintendo's forgotten series a la Startropics? Nintendo is usually very caring and protective to their main series of games, but sometimes stuff falls through the cracks and is more or less forgotten. I'm talking about stuff like Tinstar, Clu Clu Land, Stunt Race FX, and Uniracers( a lot of stuff that came out during the Play it Loud campaign actually...)

Also, Front Mission Gun Hazard was made by the same folks (I belive) and is considered the follow up to Assault Suit Leynos/Cybernator by many.

Shadow Hearts series (including Koudelka) Incredible Crisis Skygunner Jet Set Radio series (including Ollie King) I'd be willing to write articles on these....a few weeks later that is. Also, for those who don't know what Incredible Crisis is, this picture ought to sum it up nicely Edit: Forgot about Faselei!

Perhaps Startopia for PC. I'm sure anyone here who's played it could vouch for it's unique qualites, managing a space station is pretty cool and it only spans one game (though it deserves another).

Doki Doki Penguin Land (MSX1/SMS/GEN/GB)
You can say that it's a Lode Runner game with a twist. Cute puzzle-platformer.

Oh, Penguin Land. They just released a remake of it for the PS2 in the Sega Memorial Collection. Gorgeous high res graphics too.
I actually wanted to do a penguin-themed article with that game, Pengo, the trilogy of Konami penguin games (Antarctic Adventure, Penguin Adventure, and Yume Penguin Monogatari) and anything else I could dig up.

Lots of great suggestions so far, but what I'd really like to see would be some more obscure but good Final Fight clones. The ones I was mostly thinking of were Guardians/Denjin Makai 2 (probably one of the deepest games of the genre, with 8 characters and an assload of moves for each of them, <shamelessplug> see the FAQ I wrote for it at the usual place </shamelessplug>) Night Slashers (probably the bloodiest FF clone ever, plays nicely too, get the Japanese version if you want to try it in Mame, the Korean one is censored) Ninja Baseball Batman (no relation to that Batman, it's a surpremely weird game based around a baseball theme (duh) with lots of over-the-top attacks) Shadow Force (the main gimmicks here are the large amount of basic moves that are chainable freely, and the ability to take over practically any enemy and play as them) Undercover Cops (made by Irem, thus using the MS-style graphics: besides them, the selling point is the ridiculously oversized blunt objects you can wield: the Japanese version is a better choice for this game too, as it's the only one with flashy fullscreen attacks) Metamorphic Force (good Konami fighter with neat music and omgwtffurries) and Violent Storm (another Konami FF clone with large sprites and a heavy 80s feel)
Other ones I'd like to see in no particular order:
Alien vs Predator arcade (IE. the Capcom version, might want to include the rest of the respective titles there too)
Change Air Blade (a VS shmup that isn't Twinkle Star Sprites, not as balanced though)
Chiller (just because of the concept)
D&D arcade games (IE. the far better known deep FF clones)
Gunforce 2 (better known unofficially as Metal Slug 0)
Kaiser Knuckle (a Taito-made fighter with highly destroyable stages, some versions actually include a practice mode, certanly don't see that in arcade fighters often)

How about an article on Base Wars? I played this NES game when I was a kid. It was a baseball game, but it wasn't typical in any sence. For one thing the players were all robots. You could customize them by buying parts and weapons for them, and make them better suited for certain things. You'd play like a regular baseball game, but when someone tried to make an out by touching the player with the ball, instead of just being an out, you'd get into a battle and if you won the call was then made in your favor. Of course you couldn't just win the game by getting to battles everytime you got an out. The starting HP of the players in the battle was dependant on how clear the out was. If you tried to steal a base, and they caught you, you'd have like 1 HP with which to defend yourself. At least, that's what I remember. I've never heard of anyone anywhere talk about this game before, so it feels like it's pretty obscure. But who knows, maybe you all played it before and hated it.
