God of War 3. Not sure it'll convert the haters, but it's a lot of fun so far. It's one damn good looking game, too.

Infinite Space. I've only just gotten out of the first system, so I'll have to hold off on giving it a full judgement, but it's okay so far. The combat seems a little flat, but I haven't been facing anything that gave me a challenge so far so I can't say whether that applies to the whole game. Also, the incest vibe is pretty creepy, but at least the other characters acknowledge it as so.

I recently built a new computer and I've been testing it's performance with games demos. I tried Clive Barker's Jericho first. It was honestly kind of meh, even with the cool character switching mechanic. It just felt too much like a game that would play better on a console than a PC. It ran beautifully with everything maxed out though, so that's a good sign.
Now to try the Crysis demo. It's kind of sad that a 3 year old game is still the benchmark.
Edit: Also the Jericho demo had one of the worst QTE I've seen in a game. You know the kind: you fail instantly if you so much as look at the keyboard the wrong way. Holy crap that was annoying.

Switched to 3rd Strike on DreamCast and I lost my arcade stick so I'm really sucking at it.

Is that the one where you're lowering yourself down a well or something and then the zombie jumps at you? IIRC, you'll only die instantly if you miss something like the first couple of prompts. Once you lower yourself down a certain amount you can fall and still live, but then if you miss again the zombie fella kills you. That demo and the QTE actually got me really interested in the game (and the story interested me too), but the normal gameplay was just too shoddy for me to actually go out and give the full copy a try.

Once you lower yourself down a certain amount you can fall and still live, but then if you miss again the zombie fella kills you. Yep, that's the one. I didn't know there was a point where you could actually survive if you failed the prompt and fell, but it was far more frustrating than it needed to be. That was the only time I actually died in the demo. That demo and the QTE actually got me really interested in the game (and the story interested me too), but the normal gameplay was just too shoddy for me to actually go out and give the full copy a try. The gameplay was really weak, which is a shame since I like the character designs. They all had really good weapons and abilities. I think a lot of it came down to the controls because they felt really "mushy" to me. The enemy AI was really weak, too, and didn't do much more than charge at you and then fall down when shot. I might end up buying the game anyway since it's pretty cheap at this point and it's guaranteed to work on my system. I just finished up the Crysis demo and I am pleased that it runs so well on this computer. It looks and runs greats with few hiccups and I like the gameplay. The storyline is terribad, though, which is a bad sign. When the demo's story can't even muster more than a bunch of bad cliches you know that was probably their least concern.

Road Rash II for Gen. Honestly, the game is cool but the difficulty is bullshit starting from level four. It's so difficult it's just not fun anymore. The races get too long and the computer keeps forcing you to spin out any time you get the advantage.

Bayonetta. It's pretty fun but my tendency to always attack and never defend really comes back to bite me in the ass sometimes.
In the case of the first real boss battle, I also kept just staying as close to the boss as possible and hitting him so I didn't fall in the lava. That also meant staying above the ground, which left me wide open for the fireball projectiles, and the few successful dodges wouldn't trigger witch time anyway.
Also the button-mashing is murder on my thumbs. I almost wish I was playing with an arcade pad so I could use my other fingers more easily.
It's still damn fun though.

Playing through Geometry Wars 2 and my mind has been blown. Seriously, I didn't try some of the unlocked game modes because I was so addicted to trying to beat my high score on some of the game modes I already had. Been playing this and Lumines Live! and Bomberman Live!, because I got it for $3 bucks at the swap meet. Pretty cool.
Besides that I'm also going through Perfect Dark. Kinda bummed out some of the achievos are glitched. Rare already twittered though that they're working on it. Just met Elvis for the first time. He's the bee's knees.
Also running through TNA Impact! Never played it when my brother borrowed if for the PS3 and I picked it up for the 360 at only $8. Hopefully it entertains me as much as Legends of Wrestlemania, but somehow I doubt that.

Installed Dark Messiah of Might & Magic for another run through. The game is very flawed, buggy and frustrating, but it's too much fun for me to resist. They should have named the game Dark Messiah: Professional Dick Simulator however. It never gets old kicking dudes down the stairs and throwing barrels at them. More games should let you be a massive asshole to enemies, especially if you can kick them off of stuff.

Well, I keep popping in Castle of Shikigami 2 (though due to it being a blue disc it doesn't always load the first time), and I really shouldn't enjoy it as much as I do, but the dialogue is great! Anyway, I actually have managed a few times to get through the first level (sub and main boss both) and halfway through level two (sub boss) without having to continue. This is pretty impressive with me.
Still, I need more credits, because I still suck and keep getting killed in level 4.

Castle Shikigami 2 is awesome awesome awesome. Just keep pressing on; worst case scenario is eventually piling on enough playtime for free play. Oh damn, just realized I haven't played it in a couple of years. I'm starting to forget those which are AJA BROTHERS. And the two options Ko gives. And most importantly, I've forgotten which 2 player combo that has Yukari say 'That's a violation. They don't have cars.'
Lessee, my copy of Strange Journey shipped today, so I have a few days to kill till then. I think I'll start up TG-16 CD Ys IV tomorrow.

I've been in Tokyo for the past few days and have made a point to finish each day playing at arcades for a few hours each night before they close. In Takadanobaba I visited the famous Mikado. Pretty great selection of games. Has lots of Irem greats like X-Multiply, Mr. Heli, R-Type I, II and Leo. Also a good dose of Toaplan; Tatsujin, Tatsujin Ou, Same! Same! Same!. Those were my favorites including the nice seat rumblin', ear splittin' dedicated 3-screen Darius cab.
Also swung by Alpha Station between Okubo and Shin Okubo station where there was more Toaplan-- Fixeight, V-V and Vimana. Plenty of obligatory Cave shooters, too.
To top it off is Akihabara; Hey! and Try are a perfect pair. Hey! has probably the greatest selection of arcade games on planet Earth. I made sure to start with Toaplan's Dogyuun (can you tell I'm a fan?), and spent some time with Dangun Feveron. They had Armed Police Batrider and Garegga (although Mikado had those also, as well as Bakraid) with custom dials controlling the speed of rapid fire. Very slick. Hey! has most of Cave's catalog. Whatever it doesn't have, Try, Club Sega, and Mikado basically complete. In fact the only Cave game I did not see among these arcades is the original Ibara. I only saw Ibara Kuro. Also, Hey! has a dedicated Night Striker machine, but it's a little out of whack (the lights don't work properly and it's rigged with auto-fire). Also they had a cool Darius II set up. Two screen projector on a MASSIVE screen, anda nice sound system to go with it. Hey! Also has a few more Toaplan games, namely Tiger-Heli and Kyukyoku Tiger.
Try arcade is the pinnacle. It doesn't have the mindblowing selection of Hey! but it has atmosphere and some very cool, very rare machines. My favorite is the Salamander table-top machine (the kind with the screen under the glass table). Does Salamander normally have voices? When I was playing it, the music sounded much richer than I expected it would and the voice samples were surprisingly crisp and clear-- no fuzziness like in later games like Gradius II or III. Maybe it has an extra sound system attached since it's a dedicated cab. Also, Try had an MVS version of Chotetsu Brikin'ger. From what I can tell this is a freakishly rare game, not even dumped for use on MAME. It did get an Neo Geo CD release but apparently only a few MVS carts were produced. Also there is a dedicated Crime Fighters 2 cab. Fucking awesome beat-em-up by Konami. They also had more Toaplan-- namely Slap Fight. Plenty of other interesting games too like Monster Maulers (Kyukyoku Sentai Dadandarn, catchy theme song and all), lots of Neo Geo, all three Gradius games, Raiden I, II and DX... and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. Oh yeah, there was a fully working Neight Strikers machine. Extremely cool to play in.
So that's what I've been playing.

I sadly don't have anyone to play it with at present, and the only person I could think of is my brother, and I don't have any clue if he'd like it. As for Ko's options: A. Beaten and then caught B. Caught and then beaten

And he loves repeating those choices.
Hmm, there still isn't a story recollect faq up on gfaqs. INJUSTICE. Well then, change of plans. I think I'll kick time in the face until Strange Journey comes in by... ever so slowly working on a story recollect transcription for Castle Shikigami II.
Good thing I have free play unlocked!
Edit: Man, I think transcribing one character's story recollect takes almost as much time as one playthrough...
