I have fond memories of playing the second game with my siblings a long, long time ago. Didn't cared so much for the first and third games. Great to have a good article about the series here.
By the way, these games are for MSX2, so all screen captions should say MSX2 instead of just MSX (you knew that I was going to say this, didn't you? ;D) Also, the platform for Rune Master III is now listed as just MSX. Should be MSX2, as well. Thanks.

Surely some of the best pixel art of the era, right here, folks. I've never played these games - they look too slow for me - but the visuals are utterly endearing. Cheers for another fantastic article, Audun and Kurt.

"I'M DEFEATED...BY AN INFERIOR GUY..." is poetry.
Edit: Also, not to nitpick even more, but a lot of the character profiles end without any punctuation.

I remember a couple of similar games on the SNES. Oh yes, Viper Paradice too Although, judging from the articles, the Rune Master series may have richer gameplay than either of those.

It should be worth noting that the original Rune Master never came out as a stand alone game. It was released as part of the Disc Station Special 5 - Christmas Edition magazine, just like Aleste Gaiden was.
Also, could Kurt PM me the author's email? Or tell me his username here? I would like to ask for those ending save states.

Yup, but it isn't as bad as it might sound. You can use one save for each disk to get four endings easily. Just make sure to have the total control of all four characters. You don't want the CPU to come in your way. By the way, if it's complete ending screenshots that you want the VGMuseum style, I can provide them myself if you want.

If by VGMuseum style you mean the last boss and every single thing after it, then yeah, go ahead. I hope the credits are not in Japanese Thanks MP83!

By VGMuseum style I meant exactly that. It will be done then. The credits are all written with roman characters. You're welcome, ReyVGM!
