www.hardcoregaming101.net/elepaperaction/elepaperaction.htmI bought this game to cover a long awhile back, and figured with EasyGameStation's English release of Recettear, it might be good to bring up one of their earlier titles. This one is a beat-em-up based on Read or Die. It's better than Duo Princess (the one based on Dew Prism) and it's got some good ideas, although the game itself is only alright.

Ahh, one of my absolute favorite anime series. (Well, the three-episode OVA, anyway. The TV series is kind of hit-and-miss.) Not something I'd pay for, though, at least in untranslated form.

The OVA didn't click with me, though it was so long ago I couldn't tell you why. The first episode of the TV series had a bad case of What About Bob? syndrome, where some likable doofuses accidentally cause trouble for the straight person and ends up really annoying them. I find that comedy pretty obnoxious so I wasn't able to get very far. Maybe it got better after that, I dunno.

Wow, really? Had no idea this game existed, and I enjoy ROD.
And the OAV is better, but the TV series isn't bad. Doesn't get really good until the end though.

Can't believe everyone who's posted so far prefers the OAV. Honestly, for me, the OAV was OK, but the TV series was *fantastic* -- not just toward the end, but the whole way through! From the first episode to the last, I found the TV series to be one of the best examples out there of an action anime done right (though I'll admit, the second half IS better than the first, if only because the cast of characters more than doubles!). The OAV can't compare at all, as only really the first episode of it is any good -- and the first episode of the TV series is *equally* good, in my mind.
Cool that there's a game, but sad to hear it's kind of a mediocre one. I might still have to check it out one of these days, though!

Exactly. And I generally hate action shows, so having some slice-of-life to build up the characters before exploding into crazy action pretty much represents the PERFECT action show for a person like me. (: That's always been my complaint with action movies and shows: too much action, too little development. And action scenes just have a LOT more impact if you actually care about the characters involved in them. -Tom

Pointless fact, the series name is just ROD TV without an explicit meaning to ROD because the series is based on both Read Or Die and Read Or Dream that is the name of the sisters manga.
