hg101.kontek.net/waiwaiworld/waiwaiworld.htmOne of the earliest Famicom games I ever played, mostly because of all of the Konami references. The first game is a pain to play, but not terrible. The second is far more solid, but too much on the easy side.

Pretty cool looking game. Was it ever released in the US, or was it Japan only?

Japan only. Probably because many of the characters featured (King Kong, Fuuma, Upa, Goemon) were from games only released in Japan at the time.

Their King Kong license might have only applied for Japan, too.

Wow, I could have swear that there was an article for this game ages ago What about Wai Wai Racing? Isn't supposed to belong in the same crossover series?

They were covered in the Classic Gaming Review Archive.

Their King Kong license might have only applied for Japan, too. Has anyone heard the story behind this? Konami had the rights to "The Lone Ranger," another Universal Studios property, and the NES Lone Ranger game was arguably based on the 1981 flop "The Legend of the Lone Ranger" due to similarities in the plot (how the Ranger was just starting out, and the kidnapping of President Grant by Cavendish), and the fact that the overworld theme was the same as the movie's. Did they have some kind of agreement with Universal?

Wai Wai Racing (Konami Krazy Racers) for the GBA should be added to this page. It's a decent little game too.

I'll cover it separately, eventually. There's an iOS sequel of that, too.
