I used to love Nintendo, but the Wii was a disappointment for me. There are still plenty of games that I greatly enjoy on it, but I just don't really get much satisfaction out of using the Wii-mote, or any motion controls really. It was pretty interesting at first but now the only game that I can think of that I really dig the motion controls in was Sin and Punishment 2. I've played a lot more on the 360 and PS3, which is kinda crazy since I've always got a Nintendo console first in the generation and it's had nearly all of my favourite franchises on it.
i'm sort of to the point of indifference. I don't hate the company, but I don't feel the adoration I used to. i'm curious about the Wii-U but I have no desire to run out and buy one, but to be honest that goes for most gaming in general for me nowadays.
actually now that I think about it the DS was really great. nintendo has been my go to for portable videogames since i've been playing games on the go, so there's a lot of respect there, actually. haven't got my hands on a 3ds yet, though.

I've never really been a Nintendo loyal fan, I always thought it was stupid to have to pick sides. I've always gone where the games I want to play are. That said, I can't say I want them to fail, however lately they've made some dumb business decisions. I don't necessarily think that it would be a good thing if they developed software only. To answer the question on the topic, I hate having to get new hardware to play games, hate it. It makes me mad. So if Nintendo where to have some exclusive games I want to play on the 3ds or the Wii-U, I'd be angry. However I don't feel anything right now, I'm completely indifferent. Success or failure, I don't care either way.

It wouldn't solve all of Nintendo's problems, but I really hope Reggie gets fired (or steps down; anything to get him out of the picture). He doesn't know what the fuck he's doing and he's prevented a number of the Wii's best games from coming out in North America.
Aside from that, I personally like motion controls, but think their implementation could have been much better. Is that Nintendo's fault, or third-parties'? I think both sides are to blame. I really wish there were more games that made good use of motion controls, such as Disaster: Day of Crisis or The Crystal Bearers or Silent Hill: Shattered Memories or Resident Evil 4 (I will never cease to be disappointed that no one bothered to make a Resident Evil 4-esque game from the ground up for Wii).
Concerning Nintendo in general, they do a lot of shit that bothers me (especially nowadays), but I still have fond feelings for the Wii. I feel like in spite of everything that Nintendo, and third-parties, tried to do to make the system suck (unintentionally), there are still many things on there that I'm happy for, so I'm satisfied with the system. I'd sure be a lot more pissed off if I didn't have Homebrew though. Nintendo really needs to ditch regional lockout immediately, because it's a load of shit. Fuck regional lockout.

Yeah, that really made Chop 'Till You Drop much more enticing a purchase One of the reasons why I love the Wii controls in Resident Evil 4 so much is using the d-pad for camera control though, and I read that the d-pad is used to select weapons in Chop 'Till You Drop, which would severely gimp the controls.

In chop 'till you drop, you have 4 weapon slots. 1 Pistol, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle and a misc item depending on what you pick up. I used to like the game a lot... untill i got an Xbox and played Deadrising and found out i wasted 40 dollars on chop 'till you drop. It has many flaw's i could go on about for a while, but one of the worst to me was the Zombie poodle and Bomb carrying birds, respawning through the game.

Nintendo's native Japanese division is so much better. Why can't our American division be as good as them?

Me and my old pal Nintendo go way back, and for that reason alone I will continue to hold them in high esteem, though their ball-dropping seems to increase in frequency, worringly.
Even though some of my old brand loyalty remains (which occasionally flares up whenever I feel the need to stand up for the 3DS in a sea of internet hate), I learned to love other brands just as much when they started to get their act together. Alien Soldier is among the top five best games I've ever had the fortune to play, and that's on the Sega Mega Drive.
Loyalty was further challenged when the N64 came along. I knew it wasn't the system for me even way before it was released - all the third parties I loved moved away from them, and instead they touted their so-called 'Dream Team', consisting of.. uh.. GameTek and Acclaim? Something to that effect.
Still, I got to play New Super Mario Bros Wii for the first time on my girlfriend's Wii a week ago, which I enjoyed at least as much as those epic AAA fps franchises that the kids are into these days.

They are a company swelling with stereotypical Japanese pride. I get the impression that if this whole 3DS/Wii U thing doesn't quite work out, there'll be a massive seppuku ritual before they bring their hallowed Nintendo properties to the imperialistic smartphones.

Chairmen and managers forced to roam the countryside, acting as bandits and swords-for-hire, their lieges dead.

I don't want FORCED online gaming... ^This is basically my main point with Nintendo's latest decision with DQX. I used to LOVE Nintendo. The Legend of Zelda was gaming bliss for me. Now, I'm ready to put them on the shelf for good. I became so disappointed with the N64, (due to their lack of games that interested me) that I practically quit gaming for a year. Later on I got a Playstation, and got back in to the hobby. I liked their handheld efforts, but the changes in direction of their franchises (touch screen Zelda, Luigi being the wussy brother, and him being not available in games) really began to wear on me. I bought the Wii expecting something a little different, and to get a few GC classics I missed out on. On some levels I enjoy the games I have. Most of them are 3rd party though. The only first party game I own is Metroid Prime Trilogy, and I haven't played it yet. With the Xenoblade/TLS fiasco, it really became the last straw for me. Nintendo basically, looked me in the face and said: "I don't want your business, and I don't want your money." I'm not really inclined to give them anymore of it now. It's sad, because I WANT to support their efforts, but the other companies do things that appeal to me more, even simple things like being Region Free on a console, or allowing me to back up saves to my computer with a gadget I already have. I always feel like I have to make special effort to get the functionality out of a Nintendo console.

The only first party game I own is Metroid Prime Trilogy, and I haven't played it yet. This will sound like nitpicking, but Retro is technically a second-party studio. They aren't Nintendo of Japan, but rather a separate company that's owned by Nintendo. I definitely understand what you mean about Prime, at any rate, though. I have all three games in the series and have maybe put 10 hours into the first one, and haven't even tried the other two.

Honestly, every game company could learn a little from the success of Catherine. It's like no one thinks gamers can handle something with real adult themes. Nintendo is the last company I could ever imagine embracing such radical ideas, especially with their ultra-conservative leadership. If I remember correctly, I read in a magazine a long time ago that Miyamoto wanted to make an adult Mario game. I'm sure that didn't go too far.
