Wizardry might be more complicated, since the rights now belong to the Japanese company that owns Acquire (I forget their name).

Given how my previous post was structured, you read that as if I asked about Wizardry on GOG. I was wondering about a coverage of Wizardry on HG101

Honestly, Wizardry would be a welcome addition and I know Kurt wants some old school CRPGs on here, so I see it happening. However Wizardry, as specified above, might be a little more difficult since Wizardry exploded in Japan and has LOTS of spinoffs.

The current plan is to first finish an article on the American series and then deal with the Japanese stuff in further updates.

If nothing else, Wizardry could fill the weekly kusoge for the better part of a year.

Ultimas IV-VI!
Great overview of the series so far, but I can't get behind the savage attacks on the NES Ultima III soundtrack. That is one of the best soundtracks on the system, so atmospheric.

Fantastic article so far guys, keep up the good work. Some minor corrections to note... The Ultima Trilogy (I-III) on the FM Towns was released in 1990, not 1992. There is a listing for the X1 version of Ultima I, but Pony Canyon also released X1 ports for Ultimas II and III.

Is it worth mentioning in the article that a soundtrack was released for Ultima Exodus on cassette in Japan, complete with vocals by famous voice actress Hidaka Noriko? That game was apparently ridiculously popular back in the day.
[edit]
I am at work so I can't verify, but I am pretty certain this will bring you to Hitomi no Knife, which is the vocal version of the music that plays at the main menu/when creating a party:
The cassette has tracks for most if not all the music in the game, two of which have vocals (the music that plays in towns in the other vocal song).

I see the pages about VII and VIII are up now, and I can already point a typo in the U7 article: under the cover of the SNES versions, it says "NES". Now, going to read...
Edit: Ascension's up too.

Three more pages are up. The links in the Worlds of Ultima page are all "scrambled" - and now that I notice, they still are in U6's page.
It is telling of the peak of the Ultima series, when even the spin-offs (although Underworld 2 is, by all means, a chapter of the Guardian saga) published in the same years as the finest episodes, are great games too! I knew of Runes of Virtue thanks to an Italian magazine where, back in the day, the Game Boy version of the second episode received a glowing review - basically they said it was are-bones, yet so much fun. I wish someone made a mouselook patch for UU, like it was done for System Shock. It wasn't implemented perfectly but it improves it immensely, showing how much it is still a masterpiece that suffers only for controls too clunky compared to what we are used to now. I'm sure the same would apply to UU. Glad to see a mention of Arx Fatalis too. A shame the Worlds of Ultima didn't do well. I hope GOG will release them in a package. I also wonder what they will do with the remaining episodes of the main series. I doubt a VII-VIII-IX mega-package.
Since Exult is mentioned in the Ultima VII pieces, and so are the fan patches for the earlier games, mention could be given also to a more recent project for a U6 engine (cannot recall the name right now), it's still very incomplete but so far, they even managed to allow the use of data from the FM Towns version, so to have the dubbing on the PC version too. Um, yay? It's also worth knowing that, following the GOG releases, a program called "Ultima Patcher" was made by a fan specifically for them: it bundles all those patches for easy use.

It's possible that the images originate from there, but they are definitely not hotlinked. All screens the author might have borrowed are rehosted on site.
