Almost missed this. Very cool to see Giftpia get some attention! I own the game, but have had a lot of trouble playing it, since I only own an American GameCube -- and while I've been able to get the game working on it through swap-discing, the Japanese text is all garbled.
One correction, though:
Taniguchi actually had nothing to do with L.O.L. Lack of Love. The soundtrack to that game was composed 100% by Japanese new-age artist Ryuichi Sakamoto. Taniguchi composed the soundtracks to UFO, Chulip and Chibi-Robo! (in their entireties), contributed heavily to the Moon soundtrack, and I believe he also contributed to the soundtrack for Coloball 2002 and *possibly* Endonesia (though I'm not certain on the latter), but I know for a fact he did not contribute to L.O.L. at all.

I presume there's an "until" that was meant to go before "Team Kirameki"
Also, was I dreaming when I read that Giftpia was an MMO (of sorts)? I always remember the game being referred to as one of the few GCN games to take advantage of online, yet the review doesn't even mention the online component, if it had one.

There was no online component to Giftpia at all. Fully single-player experience. You must be thinking of something else!

You're right, looks like I was thinking of this game: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeland_%28video_game%29Wasn't too hard to find; the Gamecube only had three games that were online-capable (four if you count PSO 1&2 plus as a separate game from PSO 1&2). What a waste of an ethernet port.
