hg101.kontek.net/blakestone/blakestone.htmI'm sure most people with a PC in the mid-90s vaguely remember playing this Wolfenstein 3D-engine powered FPS. I don't have much else to say, except that I remember spending a lot more time with Corridor 7, even though it was probably worse. Why did I play that game so much? I guess being 13 and not having a job will do that.

I honestly prefer Blake over Wolfenstein 3D if only because it has more variety in terms of weapons and enemies. The little gimmicks sprinkled throughout the levels, such as the friendly scientists and vending machines, are also a nice touch.

You could put a link to GOG, they sell the two Blake Stone games. Also, do I remember badly or at least one of the episodes allows to return to previous floors, so that you can search for secrets, ammo and bonuses you haven't collected already? I had solid fun with these game years ago, because I approached them knowing their limits - an update of the Wolf3D engine and gameplay they are, and they deliver this way. True, they couldn't pick the worst possibile release dates...

True, they couldn't pick the worst possibile release dates... They ARE better than Wolfenstien, but only just BARELY. I have to admit I was never a big fan because I hated not knowing where I was going. Sure, you could leave around a big trail of dead Nazis like some kind of morbid Hansel and Gretel, but that would only get you so far. Also, yes, you can go to any floor you've previously unlocked, and I'm FAIRLY sure whatever you collect/kill stays that way. I haven't played the game since I wrote the article, however, so I could be wrong.
