Oh, and what about multiplayer support, the primary reason I'd play these games again? Connecting together online in BG1 was iffy at best - I'd be quite happy if they overhauled the netcode to make online play significantly more feasible.

I think you might be just about the only person who will be. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't bother. I would in fact, be angry if they wasted time on something only 1% of the players will ever use.

Based on everything I've ever heard people say about Baldur's Gate, "I don't like the interface" and "I came into WRPGs late" seem to be code for "I am used to simplified console-style WRPGs and PC interfaces scare me." I really just don't understand what's not to like about the interface used in the Infinity Engine games... it works almost exactly like an RTS, with mouse-based movement controls and hotkeys to access things like spell books and inventory. As for the isometric perspective... well, that's a very subjective thing, and personally I think it's great. I prefer it over the camera used in games like Dragon Age, as you have a better view of the battlefield, which is very helpful when micromanaging 6 different characters. Is it me or does Shadows of Amn still look gorgeous? Like better than the newer Neverwinter Nights or Icewind Dale(s) look today?

BG1 sprites were better animated than BG2 ones. The guy that did them died or something. Anyway you can get them with a mod and can play BG1+BG2 on the BG2 engine with another mod.

BG1 sprites were better animated than BG2 ones. I noticed this. I was referring to the environments within Shadows. Quite breathtaking in comparison to other isometric games of the time.
