Figured I'd make a thread for this game since I haven't seen one, even though it's almost six months after its original posting: www.hardcoregaming101.net/martialmasters/martialmasters.htmIt's a pretty neat game, but I have a question for anyone who's played it: Is there any way to make two-player combat a conventional single-match affair? By default, having two human players on board sets it into a 3-on-3 mode a la King of Fighters. I'm generally more comfortable with typical 1-on-1 fighting, so I want to know if it's feasible for that to happen. Also, if there's any more discussion anyone wants to raise about MM, go right ahead. It deserves a bit more recognition, IMO.

I don't think you can change it to 1 vs 1 in 2 player mode. It's kind of dumb because it's always 1 vs 1 against the computer, so it can be kind of hard to practice. Sorry.

Something I really like about this game is showing it to people who have never heard of it. One of my favorite things about fighting games is teaching someone how to play, wait for them to discover new things, and then completely surpass me in a couple of weeks. Great example: I used to think Reika couldn't do enough damage to really do anything, until I fought someone who took the time to learn her. Reika ended up being a lot stronger and more fearsome than I had originally thought.

no joke: stumbled onto this forum, saw a topic made today about martial masters and signed right the hell up then and there. so yo. with that out of the way, yeah there's the whole infinites thing but this is still a damn fine fighter with really good aesthetics and tight gameplay. and any game with scorpion and lotus master in it will be good, regardless.
and really, for IGS, it could be a LOT more unbalanced. i can only imagine how the competitive scene for alien challenge and the killing blade would be, the latter bizarrely being playable on an online arcade emulator known as SupArc amongst the standard kofs and street fighters.
