Here's an interesting thing:
The GBA version of Donkey Kong Country 3 adds a boating mini-game (Funky's Rentals) which is basically a mini version of Cobra Triangle but with DKC characters.
The ones that are there are Race to the Finish (as both "Destroy" and "Race", although on the former you also have to destroy 10 boats to win), Dispose of Mines (as "Disposal") and Guard the People (as "Protect", but with DKC characters instead of people. Including Dixie and Kiddy, even if you're using either of them)

I watched a speedrun of this game once, it looked pretty much like the opposite of everything I would find enjoyable in a game combined in one deft package (strict time limits, isometric racing, boating and the physics accompanying them, escort/rescue missions, enemies ramming you from all angles). Rare's insufferable collect-a-thon games look more enjoyable (same with Snake Rattle 'N' Roll).

The article compares Cobra Triangle to Battletoads in terms of difficulty, but I found this game to be the easier of the two when I was a kid. Not that I beat it but I at least got to level 6 while I could never get past the bikes in Battletoads.
