The best hummingbird-shooter-for-the-32X is actually a rather good game in its own right. Also features an interview with interview with Zsolt Dvornik, the man behind the game's amazing soundtrack. www.hardcoregaming101.net/kolibri/kolibri.htm

I remember trying this out a few years back and getting completely stuck a little way in.

Something I didn't include because I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I noticed a theme of cancer through the game. The manual describes Kolibri as an antibody. The levels have names are very evokative with names like Metastasis. The last level is even called Remission.

Hummingbirds + cancer? Now that's weird.

Visually, this game reminds me of the Amiga game Agony. You’re an owl in that game though, not a hummingbird.

You’re an owl in that game though, not a hummingbird. yeah, I'd say there were a couple more amiga shooters with a similar look. see Apydia or Venus the Flytrap...... Though they are all darker and/or more violent in tone. Thats what I love about Ecco and Kolibri, they seem so peacefull.
