Is it just me, but doesn't the guy in the American cover look a bit like Patrick Swayze and the guy in the Japanese cover like Bruce Willis from Die Hard?

I'm getting a bit of an Edward Norton vibe from the Japanese cover, actually.

the guy in the Japanese cover like Bruce Willis from Die Hard? Pretty much: The American cover reminded me of a Lethal Weapon 1-age Mel Gibson with shorter hair.

I can't find in-game cutscene that "thing"/"stuff" (that is investigated by Hart) is drug So i feel there are lot plot holes in this game. Maybe due to Nintendo's censorship?

How do you get the game to display that title logo?
Anyhow, got a few notes about this one. It appears an English title was already decided on when they were developing the game in Japan. VICE also appears in the graphic block with GUN-DEC. Also, the script was censored a bit. One of the dealers or junkies had cocaine on them that you ask you to get analyzed. I believe there's more stuff, but I'd have to look at the script again.

How do you get the game to display that title logo? It's at the end of the cutscene after the introductory car shoot-'em-up stage. (Fun fact: If you don't touch the directional controls and just keep shooting mindlessly, you will still clear that one. Damage doesn't matter because it gets recharged afterwards.)

I've had a chance to play through the Japanese version and there are parts of the translation that are ok, but then there parts that don't follow the original text (made up) and other parts censored. As a translation, it's not very good and I'd give it a fail. If anyone's interested, I can post my script for a new translation of the original Japanese game.
Other than that, neat game that feels like a bit of bayou billy knockoff. Not to mention the poor man's Albatross boss from Bionic Commando tossed in for good measure.

Personally... I love Vice: Project Doom. This game had a profound effect on me as a kid. When I first saw previews of it in Nintendo Power, I was curious, and when the game was out and they did an article, I was quite interested. Then I rented the game, and I enjoyed it immensely. And once I bought it, I felt a little complete.
Sadly, I dunno where the cartridge is now because I held onto it and the instruction manual. It's somewhere around my room or so, but it was a part of my childhood that I was glad to have spent time with and it still remains my personal favorite NES game of them all. And probably the only game I can feel confident saying is as such for me.
