I'm the one who acquired the board and dumped it except for the encrypted portion which other members helped with. The board was only put on location in Sega owned arcades so very few made it into the second hand market and has a suicide battery (Sega stopped repairing these boards over a decade ago). The few existing arcade PCB shops in Akihabara have confirmed that it has been at least 14-15 years since they last saw one. The game also uses unique joysticks which rotate into 4 positions for changing views. I've yet to see one of these sticks in person and likely never will at this rate. Thanks for the info, and double cheers to your efforts to preserve this! Looking forward to some more obscure Sega stuff like Bullet and Rail Chase. Aurail is up in the next few weeks. I only first heard about Bullet recently as its soundtrack was featured on one of the Sega System 16 CD sets.

Aurail is up in the next few weeks. I only first heard about Bullet recently as its soundtrack was featured on one of the Sega System 16 CD sets. Yeah Bullet's a pretty interesting game. Basically its what you would get if you had Ikari Warriors but instead of a rotary joystick you had Robotron style dual controls. Sega never ported it and Mame only just recently added it a few betas ago which is why its really obscure.

Articles like this are one of the reasons I hang around this site. Never would I have imagined the existence of Last Survivor, even if it's an unemulated arcade game with only a port on a console that stayed in Japan.
Isn't Rail Chase that sprite-scaling game heavily based on the mine cart scene of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom?
