www.hardcoregaming101.net/rez/rez.htmNew thread created for Rez as the first thread here was combined with Shinrei Jusatsushi Taroumaru. Great update of the article. However, shouldn't the article now have or at least make mention of Child of Eden? I don't know if it's suppose to be a spiritual successor or prequel, but the game is very heavily based on Rez.

Mention, definitely (it is now, dunno why I didn't think of it). For full coverage it'd need a writer who can talk about the gesture controls. And maybe a separate article would be more suited for it...

Yeah, that's the position I'm stuck in too. I have the Xbox 360 game and it's quite good, but I don't have a Kinect.

According to wikipedia and mobygames Rez was released for Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 on same day in Japan...
And in article is mentioned Rez was initially released on the Dreamcast, which came to Japan and Europe only. It was later released on the Playstation 2 in all territories.
Here in Croatia I remember reading review of Rez in PSX magazine. Also I remember that before 2010. it was posible to buy new copy of Rez in stores for budget price (I think it was around 50-60 kuna, max 80 to 100 kuna - 8 to 10 or 14 - 17 USD.
I didnt know that this game was obscure in US.
Btw. why there isnt Dreamcast cover added?

According to wikipedia and mobygames Rez was released for Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 on same day in Japan... Bonus fun time! According to MobyGames and Wikipedia, both versions were released on 21 Nov 2001. According to NCSX's website, they were shipping them out on 19 Nov 2001. Can't remember the names of some of the other sites I used to use back then (I'm pretty much 100% Play-Asia now). Play-Asia says Nov 22 2001. According to a news post on The Magicbox, the official release date was to be the 22nd. Can't find an official date from Sega at the moment. ...and I just stumbled across a bunch of posts and articles about games that I miss having. Must...restrain...urge...to...hit...ebay...

It happens occasionally that preorder items are shipped slightly before the actual release date. The 21st/22nd issue... not so much. Gonna check what the Sega Consumer History says when I get access to it this weekend...

Was there ever any truth to the rumor that certain girl gamers (or guy's girlfriends) used the "Trance Vibrator" to get off? I always thought that was hilarious.

Well, there was at least that one blog entry by a girl gamer (can't recall specifics) that famously made the rounds back in the day. Could've just as easily been a fake of course. Also, this.

Also, this.I'm skeptical since wouldn't it make it hard to play the game? And you have to play well in order for the vibrations to get more intense, right? So in order to have it vibrate enough to actually get off you'd have to play the game well enough but could you really concentrate enough at the same time as getting off? Of course I'm speaking from a male perspective, but it seems to me that male or female, masturbation is not exactly something you multitask while doing. However someone playing the game while someone else uses the trance vibrator would be much more feasible and thus more likely to have occurred.

All these years later, and people are STILL debating that? Jeebus Creebus. Hey, the idea of a video game giving someone an orgasm is too awesome a thought to give up on.

The famed Rez developer admits that the infamous Trance Vibrator was his idea. "That was kind of a joke," he said, "but a very serious joke. No sexual meaning." Mizuguchi goes on to allude to the philosophy of synaesthesia, which was the theme of the game.
Mizuguchi claims the intention was for a player to put the vibrator at his or her feet or hands
