Motocross Maniacs is still one of my favorite GB games even today. The sequels overcomplicated things, but the original is spectacular.
I am also a fan of the original Sunsoft Batman. Hasn't aged all that well, but it is definitely still fun.
GameBoy Qix is a nostalgic favorite and a perfect fit for the system. Someone already mentioned Tetris which is still my favorite version of the game ever.
You need to get all three Super Mario Land games on there. The first is like SMB, the second like SMB3 and the third is the first WarioLand.
Finally, a personal obscurity: Heiankyo Alien. It is a remake of the old overhead view Lode Runner-esque arcade game of the same name and it's great portable game. Boxxle (Soukobon) and Kwirk: The Chilled Tomato are also great puzzlers for on the go.

I'll second Kid Ircarus. Great game, but they should have kept the original "Reaper Freak-out Music." That was some crazy stuff.

Heiankyo Alien - man I loved that game! I liked the fact they included the original version of it and the slightly sexed up one as well

I think Donkey Kong 94 and Wario Land 1 are the best GB games because they were unique and not some handled version of home console game.
I would also like to add that even though I'm a big Mario platforms fan, I didn't like Super Mario Land 1 & 2 at all.

Heiankyo Alien - man I loved that game! I liked the fact they included the original version of it and the slightly sexed up one as well I'm shocked to see another fan of this game, awesome. If you're into imports, Nichibutsu Arcade Classics 2 is nothing but Heiyanko Alien, in glorious color as well as the QBasic-like original. Totally rad. At least try it on emulation to see the different versions.

Great Greed, DK Land, Street Fighter 2, Final Fantasy Legend III, Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening, Battle arena Toshenden, Castlevania II, Fist of the North Star, Azures Dreams, and can I say pokemon with out geting my ass kicked??? Rolans Curse ( zelda rippoff but 2 player) Faceball 2000 (only gameboy fps i think) RC Pro AM, Gargoyles Quest, Mystical Ninja, Wario Blast, Sneaky Snakes, Double Dragon II, Kirbys Dream Land, Boxxle, Mercenary Force, and just for the hell of it im going to throw in Dragon Warrior I + II, Legend of the River King, and Revelations the Demon slayer even though there in color but they can be played in black and white. Out of all those games I highly recomend Great Greed, the battle system is great and it is a solid RPG. I also Recomend Rolans Curse.

Ah, I know Boxxle games on GB. Didn't care too much to finish them, so I don't consider them as my favorites.
I'll have to check out Milon's Secret Castle. There's also SNES and DS games of that?

I just remembered that Gameboy Wars 2 and Gameboy Wars 3 are for GBC. I had said otherwise. Regardless, they are good games.

Great Greed, the game boy RPG no one played. I second that its one of the best rpgs of all time. Clearly best handheld rpg of all time.

Ahaha, seeing Ninja Gaiden in the list confused me because of the Shadow of the Ninja story. Yeah, I have that too, but beat it half a year ago and haven't returned to it. No replay value really.
Been getting good at Operation C. I even took out my Konami GB Collection vol. 1 cart (which has Operation C in Japanese form with the title changed to Probotector) to try out some cheats on the US version.
Haven't played much else recently. Tried Castlevania Adventure again a few weeks ago - got to Dracula twice and was aggravated. Failed to enter the secret level in Nemesis, as well (both these games are also on Konami GB Collection 1, in both territories).
In terms of GBA games, I need to get back to Gunstar Super Heroes (the fucking overhead shooter level - can get through it but then I start the next level with no life) and I just bought a copy of Gradius Galaxies off ebay, which is awesome.
