First came SNK 's Magician Lord (if someone knows the name of the artist ...) on the left then on the right we have Capcom with Warzard/Red Earth (the magician in the background with floating cape):
Ultimately this sorcerer/magician design in japanese videogames and comics may have been inspired by Yoshitaka Amano's Vampire Hunter D which itself is inspired by depictions of Bram Stoker's Van Helsing and Howard's Solomon Kane who both chased demons and were in fact warriors, not wizards, to start off. If anyone has early (early 80's, end 70's) depictions of this japanese "sorcerer" type, juste chime in.

Dragon Buster II and Frazetta: Duel, and possibly Lords of Karma, and Frazetta: Realms of Arkania III Frazetta: That one was painted by Ugurcan Yüce who seems to copy Frazetta and Vallejo pretty blatantly I wouldn't think this one is quite close enough...if he wasn't obviously copying Frazetta and Vallejo elsewhere: (the shading on the upper arm is pretty similar) and another ...so it might be some other picture originally.

That one was painted by Ugurcan Yüce who seems to copy Frazetta and Vallejo pretty blatantly Good findings and excellent comparisons, Corsair! Ugurcan yurce really lifted that dragon from Boris, but in the process he also pulled the lips beyond the gums (giving an alien-sih look) , flattened the nose region and transforming thus the original dragon into a fat GREMLIN, gremlins being bipeds (whereas Boris' creature seems to walk on its four legs and only stands to attack), just look at the one smiling in the backgroud , he's standing on his two feet holdings his 'hands' together, he awfully looks like a Gremlin too. by the way, many insist upon the fact that the warrior's position in the Black Dragon art from Capcom is lifted from Frazetta's Norseman, but I think it's only partially true: Black Dragon art is a blend of this picture you posted (Conan vs Dragon : I was about to post it yesterday but you beat me to it! ) and of Frazetta's Norseman. From left to right: Boris' Conan vs Dragon (not the real title), black Dragon art (Capcom) Look at the placement of the shield , the unique appearance and trajectory of the flames as well as the dragon's posture (and his claws too, placed exactly where they were originally in the Boris art and similarly depicted).

As an addition to www.hardcoregaming101.net/tracing/tracing.htm , there is "After the War", a game on C64 that wasn't mentioned her before where we have Arnold in Commando, same clothing, similar weapon, similar pose (as in official movie promo shoots) but with a relatively puffed up, less angular face (same hairstyle though).

CADASH has been compared to Frazetta's "Norseman" painting, but I think as the developers were going more the 'bronzed black haired barbarian' way, they rather lifted the warrior's stance partially from John Buscema's Conan in Marvel comics in early 80's in Marvel super special #21 (1982) -on your right- a drawing made famous for promoting the movie's comics adaptation in the media, blending it with Boris Vallejo's famous painting of Conan vs a dragon :
The positioning of the legs is more similar to Buscema's style and just slightly similar to Frazetta's norseman, and many other elements too (helmet, tunic, round shield.....).

Rambo vs Rapid Fire Bionic Commando vs Boris Vallejo vs Lap of the Gods The Bionic Commando monster on the ad/cover ( full image here) seems quite based on the dragon. As for Lap of the gods, a few things has been changed, but the warrior pose is still the same.

Sean Connery on the title screen to the Spectrum game Noma della Rosa, Il Isn't that a Sean Connery movie to begin with (and before that, a novel)? You're spot on. "Il nome della Rosa" in italian means "The name of the Rose" , hence the screen with Connery's face on it is from the adaptation of the movie in videogame shape, and yes it's derived from a classic 80's historical fiction book by Umberto Eco before being a movie . Great movie by the way.

Prince of Persia on Genesis : the woman in the intro screen is lifted verbatim from Boris Vallejo's "Dream Snake" , mirrored. Genesis in-game screenshot(top) Boris' "Dream Snake" (bottom)
The chained prince screen in the same game (left) was ripped from Boris Vallejo's art ( Boris' "Tattoo" painting, 1981, shown mirrored ):
The princess in this intro cutscene screenshot (left) is taken from Boris Vallejo's 1982 sketch "profile" (right) :
