You know, I don't want to mention any names but this place is becoming a bit like GameFAQs' own boards with the flaming and stuff.
This is supposed to be a FRIENDLY place with zero idiots, now I see a couple of topics people expressing their opinions and on comes someone and flames him or puts him down for thinking "different".
Sure, it's just a case or too, but pretty soon people like that will come flocking in thinking they're superior just because they make a lot of topics or because they don't agree with someone else's point of view.

Strange as it may sound...I don't really see any terribly bad flames or idiots around here. I haven't really been looking too closely, I admit, but I usually manage to pick out the crap right away (considering I'm a moderator at another forum, and a global moderator at yet another).

No. It probably has nothing to do with your signature on any part either.

I do see somewhat where you are going with this, but rest assured, it will not reach that level and I didn't really think about this until you brought it up. Even as we speak, I'm dealing with indifference on my honest views on Gamefaqs. Don't get me wrong; GF is a great site when you don't deal with the occassional SoB.
If I'm coming on a little strong on the boards, let me know and I'll shut up.

Sure, it's just a case or too, but pretty soon people like that will come flocking in thinking they're superior just because they make a lot of topics or because they don't agree with someone else's point of view. The solution to this is to restrict the number of people that can register per month and ban handles that can't play nice after due warning. While the forum is very slowly growing in readers I don't think it will be an issue for some time.

I think I have seen one or two subjects become fairly nasty, but I really don't think it has quite descended to a gamefaq level just yet :\

Maybe I'm reading to selectively but I haven't noticed too much bickering, mind you I'm use to the gameFAQs forums so maybe I'm just desensatised.

Honestly, I been using GFAQs for 6 years now, and I love the place for what it is. Where else can you find 1000s of user reviews, great FAQs, even codes AND the Saturn/SNES general boards (the only two I frequent) are freaking awesome. GFAQs gets an undeserved bad rep... but it also depends where you navigate on that site. Go to PS2 general, of course you'll see idiots.
On Saturn/SNES... it's great.

I've seen firsthand what permanent bans do to a place. People always flame on me when I say forums should'nt ever have permenant or IP bans, But if you look at (http://facepunchstudios.com) facepunch, There are no permanent bans whatsoever and no warning system, And there is as many members there as Somethingawful with no spam forum or Perm/IP bans.

Permanent bans are usually reserved for those who wish to do nothing but make trouble - people like this guy.

Yes but other forums hand them out like candy. I've been IP banned permanently for posting things (For instante, Edge emulation, where apaprently I cant request roms that are already on the site regardless of them working or not) Or perhaps TFS Where you get banned for having a sense of political humor.

Bans are a necessity in some cases. I know on one or two forums I did stuff worthy of a ban and got it. I eventually regretted doing it when I changed myself but couldn't return because of what I did. I think I more or less deserved that.

Yes but it's just like in Sagas when Rio has to kill Caime. He would have rather left the criminal live, knowing he was hated with such a heavy wait on his shoulder.
Jesus fucking christ. I cant believe i just reffered to a comic as a fucking analogy. I am a nerd
But anyway, Facepunch and other forums Like it have bans, but it's never meant to be permanent. THey believe people can change rather the the nazism of other forums.
