Nice article!
I love Clive Barker's books (especially The Books of Blood) and have always been interested in checking out these games.

Great article!
I love Undying. The visual style, the atmosphere...it's just great. I've played it many times now and it hasn't lost its charme.
I've had Jericho lying around here for years now and I haven't played it yet because a friend of mine strongly urged me not to. "It's a terrible game, don't play it" he said back then. But it sounds ~somewhat~ interersting and since I've got a soft spot for games that are mostly bad, but have at least some redeeming qualities, maybe I'll give it a shot.

I suddenly feel a strong urge to reinstall Undying. It's been a few years since I played it last, and it's October, so it seems like a good idea!

A little misleading and a bit off! Allied Assault (the first PC Medal of Honor) was by 2015, who split into two companies (Infinity Ward and 2015). EALA did the Spearhead expansion (which was pretty awesome and better than Allied Assault, even if it did rip off of Band of Brothers almost as much as Call of Duty did). Unfortunately, they also did Frontline on PS2 (keepin' the series true to consoles!) and it sucked fucking fierce (oh ). Thanks to mergers and whatnot, "they" (EALA) wound up working on Command & Conquer 3 and the Battle for Middle Earth games (fuck yea!), not to mention the immensely underrated and incredibly badass Boom Blox titles on Wii (haven't played them? Buy them. Don't have a Wii? Buy one). Plus other stuff (Red Alert 3, CnC4, whatever). Then the inspired reboot of MoH (2k10), which managed to do some really original and interesting things with the storytelling and cinematic direction (if you can look past the whole "oh look, modern military shooter. DUDEBROS UNITE"). Also, a lot of people don't remember Deus Ex's multiplayer because it wasn't there when the game was released. Using that as a comparison for why it didn't matter that MP wasn't added isn't super good, imo. Think of all of the games that shipped with singleplayer only and then had multiplayer patched in after the fact...which ones stand out as being memorable? I can only come up with SWAT3 and Unreal 2, but neither were big successes (Unreal 2's MP, despite being WONDERFUL, never attracted any real audience). Adding MP after the fact is just about always a waste of development resources that could be used in making a new game/expansion/whatever.

Will Undying still run merrily under Windows 7 with a current graphics card? I hear the Unreal engine has all sorts of problems with that.

I didn't know there was an alternative Jericho ending, looks like the might have planned to leave things open for a sequel but thought better of it (because the games actual ending certainly doesn't suggest a sequel and is also unbelievably bad).

I think that was the point, since multiplayer for Jericho was planned to be added as a later patch, too? More in reference to the last paragraph on the Undying page than anything, since that drew a specific comparison to Deus Ex, as if the absence of multiplayer was a critical element to the game's commercial failure, or that the addition of multiplayer to Deus Ex via patch/inclusion in the GotY edition was a key part of it's success.

I haven't read the article completely yet, but does it mention that using the Invoke spell on humans causes them to commit suicide? Because if not, that's one of my favorite parts of the game. It's just so delightfully morbid and fitting given the subject matter and story.

It doesn't mention it no, it's thematically awesome that ability, costs LOADS of magic though.

A small blurb on Demonik would be nice.

The first paragraph on Jericho links to one in another article.

Huh, I'm getting a 404, but that might just be and my end. Eitherway spectacular work. Clive Barker is one of my favorite writers.
