Why do you people keep saying Metal Slug 3 is the best in the series when the games all play the exact same? What is wrong with you blinded fans?

Becuase as a fan of Final Fantasy and Tales of... The series that most people claim are the same over and over again usually have some distinct differences. The Metal Slug games if I remember correctly got better level design as they went on and different weapons. So I am sure that this was the zenith for fans of the series, the way I claim Abyss and Eternia to be the zenith of 2D and 3D Tales.

Tone down the nose-in-the-air venom, there, cowboy.
2 is the best in the series for me. 3 was the point where they decided every enemy needed to be hit 3x as many times as they did before in order to die (and then they went and multiplied it in 6).

Well, if the games all play the same, then why do people overrate on Metal Slug 3, saying it's the best of all? I don't like hearing the word "best" when it comes to media franchises... I mean, Metal Slug is just the same game but with new characters and stages being added every installment. So why do they still consider 3 the best? I hope Neo Rasa and Kurt Kalata hear me out on this...

3 was the last one done by the original team, wasn't it? 4 was definitely done by completely different people and has a palpable drop in quality.

But what you people don't understand is that Metal Slug 6 and 7 finally got the series back to where it should be. It's like how Contra 4 took the series back to where it should be after the average Contra: Shattered Soldier and Neo Contra. And Metal Slug 6 and 7 was done by SNK when they were revived as SNK Playmore.

And that's no more inane then claiming 3 is the best?

Well that was the most worthless "Report to moderator" message I've ever seen in my life.
Please don't abuse the report function. It serves to give the mods heads up about posts that are actual problems, not to be oversensitive about people who dare to disagree with you in a civilized fashion.
Also, quit it with the attitude. Insulting people by calling them "blinded" and "you people" does not make for good discussion.

Not that Metal Slug 3's a bad game to begin with, but it's not that great, either. I mean, it's just like every other Metal Slug game. I just don't like it when people overrate on video games. I think the reason why Metal Slug 3 is considered the so-called "best" Metal Slug game was because SNK was in deep shit at the time. They were so poor and were about to go into bankruptcy.

Believe me, I wasn't trying to report him, and I didn't know.

I actually would go so far to say 6 is my favorite. 7/XX got lazy.
But I think the case for Metal Slug 3 is that it was the first to have branching paths and a variety of things to gun down the grunt shoulders
Plus that final Level IS EPIC

What about the final boss of 7/XX? I honestly thought the final boss of that game was the most epic boss battle considering the fact that the fight takes place on top of lava on a volcano and that you're actually fighting Morden himself as the final boss since he's piloting that octopus-like machine...
