no Halloween Special this year? We're posting stuff from the Retro Horror book (Youkai Yashiki should be up today), and The Suffering is due on Halloween day.

You must be misremembering because these are brand new. We DID have articles on Command and Conquer 3 & 4 awhile back. We're kinda doing them out of order.

The part of the 3rd Red Alert game doesn't have the part I thought was in it. I seem to recall seeing or should I say hearing it in a video from Youtube about the series some time ago. Obviously I was mistaken.

It seems that for several series articles, the order of the articles (i.e. "This entry is part x of y in the series ABC") got a bit messed up in the transition. I noticed it on Ultima (wildly out of order), Wolfenstein (Beyond and 2009) and Prince of Persia (Harem Adventures should be after 3D, maybe after Sands of Time for context).

I'd lost track of which ones were messed up and which ones weren't, recently fixed up Mega Man since we posted Mega Man 11. The "series" widget produces some unpredictable results if you're not publishing them in order.

So... Is there any chance the stylesheet for hg101.kontek.net is going to get fixed?
It looks like it's just a matter of uploading articlelayout.css , articlelayout-alt.css, and styleswitcher.js to the new server. Or is that just not feasible?
I fixed it using the Stylus add-on in Firefox just by adding a new style for the hg101.kontek.net domain with the whole contents of articlelayout.css pasted therein.

I fixed it using the Stylus add-on in Firefox just by adding a new style for the hg101.kontek.net domain with the whole contents of articlelayout.css pasted therein. The issue is that Kontek switched over to HTTPS while the main site still uses HTTP. Because of the mismatch, the CSS breaks. I actually tried changing the new site to HTTPS, which actually did fix the Kontek issue...but separate problems broke the Wordpress template, so rather than puzzling out how to fix those, I just reverted it. When the site migration is complete, I'll be uploading a bunch of the old pages on the new server just to preserve them. If they're on the new server they display just fine. This is a problem because most of the individual page HTML files use absolute addresses (referring directly to http://www.hardcoregaming101.net) and not relative ones. So we'd need to fix and reupload thousands of HTML files to fix this. It's not impossible but considering they're archives and there are more pressing things to do, it's low priority. If they were all relative, it wouldn't be a problem.

Don't know if it's a transfer error or not, but the Breath of Fire article series is missing the Breath of Fire IV entry. It skips from Breath of Fire III to Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter. A link to the entry of on the old site: hg101.kontek.net/bof/bof4.htmWas BOFIV omitted on purpose? I thought it was odd it was missing, so I wondered if maybe the author wanted to reappraise the game or something.

Coincidentally we were discussing this one the Dragon Quarter podcast (which we recorded last week but probably won't be up for another month or so).
As you can see, the original author of the piece was really, really harsh on the game, so I want to have it rewritten with a more measured take on the game.

Did the article on Phantasy Star disappear? It shows up in searches, but as a broken link to the current site iteration. It's not on the archived site either, but a directory of screen shots can be found there with a little poking around.

IV is pretty wretched, though, with some serious issues none of the other games have (like the truly bizarre fact that you can't see anything in most towns because they thought it'd be smart to combine very narrow alleys with the isometric view), and it's true that it has very little of the BoF spirit, and little flavor in general. The people that seem to like it are usually those that hate the first 3 games of the series,so I just hope the new article is not gonna be some crazy "finally BoF gets good lol" take. Though I'll admit the author of the old article did get a bit carried away, and at times he's just ranting, many of his points were valid. It's true that Fou-Lu is basically a Chinese Sephiroth, and I'm sure he's one of the main things some people like about this game. Though switching between villain and hero was a nice twist - Arc the Lad: Twilight of Spirits did something somewhat similar, and handled it much, much better. dsparil There was never an HG101 Phantasy Star article. One is coming soon, though.
