Those aren't actually that bad to me. The Cauldron theme is actually pretty catchy. You want to know what really, really terrifies me, though? Something Commodore 64 games are also great for? Long periods of silence, or mostly silence, broken up by sudden musical stings. ...If anybody can find something like that, I'll thank you for the resulting nightmares. Again, Temple of Apshai is perfect for this, given that it's just one constant drone broken up by what sounds like some kind of heartbeat when combat happens.

Compared to the relaxing sex music of DKC1, or the laid back groove of DKC2 (ok, the water level it was for got scrapped in the end, but it still counts as Stickerbrush Symphony is totally a sequel to Aquatic Ambience), the dark desolate nature of the DKC3 water level music truly stands out as the black sheep of the family. It's also my favorite of the three.
That intro is spooky as fuck.

A little bit new to this thread, so I haven't read the backlog, so I'll ask...
...has anybody posted any songs from the original PSX/Saturn version of Baroque?
Awesomely atmospheric soundtrack where a lot of tracks give you that feeling of isolation.

Pretty much everything about this VN was unsettling, to say the least, but this song stands out to me.
Castlevania music is generally recognized for its raucous, energetic anthems and a few spooky pieces here and there but sometimes it descends into all out creepiness.
Far Cry 3 has plenty of really dark, unsetlling music and moments, but this song seems to have been ripped directly from my nightmares.

Classic here. Don't know if anyone else has posted it yet, but if not, I think it definitely belongs.
Also, pretty much half of Drakkhen's soundtrack on the SNES belongs in this topic as well, I think. This one in particular (if you can even call it a "tune"):
But really, any of the songs that play when you're talking to one of the draqon kings or queens is a viable choice as well. Such as this track:
Play the track on speakers with good bass, and man does it ever resonate. Creeped me out for reasons I can't quite explain when I was a kid.

Hats off to Fungo for making this amazing work. For those not in the know, Silent Hill doesn't really have "songs" per se. They're more like layers of sound that build up in intensity alongside what's happening in the game. As the danger ramps up, the music becomes increasingly more dense. What Fungo did was somehow mix these songs together. Also, the music is terrifying.

Drakkhen was an inspired choice Tom Tombs & Treasures has one of the best soundtracks on the NES. Really plays to the strengths of the NES sound hardware to give a creepy atmosphere. Some of my favs: Castillo Pyramid El Caracol Nunnery Room The first Splatterhouse has a really amazing soundtrack, especially the arcade version. Love the distorted effects, off key stuff, sounds just like horror movie soundtracks from the 80s. Poltergeist This track from Dungeon Explorer The entire soundtrack for Siren is creepy and effective, but this one in particular stood out:
