Who's excited for Pokémon Sword/Shield? I certainly am, but the starters look a little meh. Grookey (Grass Chimp), Scorbunny (Fire Rabbit) and Sobby (Water Lizard) all look a little bland in my opinion. Going to go with Scorbunny though. I don't think I've ever picked a fire starter before. A little bummed that random battles are returning but also not surprised. I’ve felt that way before and still been fine with overall game. I think it may have been been Gen 5’s starters.

We may have to wait for the actual release to find out definitively whether random battles are actually back.

I finally got Advance Wars 1, and it's a legit cart, thankfully. I really like the game already. Intelligent System games are so snappy and tightly designed.

That was already rumored based on the rumor that gen 8 was gonna be called King/Queen, so it's funny that turned out accurate despite it being based on a wrong hunch. The starters look a little bland indeed (probably the closest we've ever gotten to starters looking like hoax/fanart starters), but ultimately it's the final forms that matters the most. I'm gonna go for the bunny; he's growing on me. We may have to wait for the actual release to find out definitively whether random battles are actually back. They already showed random battles are back in the trailer. Which is a relief for me since I was afraid the game would take too much after Let's Go.

On lane of memories in DQ8. the last few bosses are RNGesus nightmares. Had to give up at 2am last night with only one boss left but apparently he isn't so bad. Still have a few photo challenges left but I think after this boss I'm done with the game and I'll move on to something different.

I've posted and deleted this before, but I am officially and totally disappointed with the build quality of the Switch Joy Cons. The left stick, R button and right d-button on my second set have all started to malfunction quite significantly after less than 6 months! I do use my Switch a lot, but this set has seen only a few hundred hours of use which is honestly unacceptable for something that costs as much as they do. The things are $80 retail! I've literally never had to replace any of my Nintendo controller before, and now I'm going to be on my third set in slightly under two years. The R button and d-buttom slightly gradually with them getting a little iffy over a few weeks and now they are almost completely unresponsive. The left stick started to get phantom up movements every minute or so out of absolutely nowhere two days ago. The most frustrating part is having the replacement last three times less than the originals. I did put up with some issues with the left stick on the original up until the right stick just completely crapped out with no warning which was is why I replaced them in September. I chalked that up to launch issues, but there's not explain for the new ones except awful luck.
Sorry for ranting about this, but just the thought of having to spend over half the system cost on replacements is so irritating. Take this a PSA maybe.

Yeah, but I was thinking that it may just be a placeholder.

It seems to be more general UK inspired than just England. There seems to be a bit of Scottish influence in some places.

Sorry for ranting about this, but just the thought of having to spend over half the system cost on replacements is so irritating. Take this a PSA maybe. It almost makes me think it's just really hard to make them that complex and still relatively stable in the small size they are. Because Nintendo's controllers are generally pretty solid. I had to replace both joycons once so far, and that was after about 1.5 years or so. That's after some intensive use, of course. It sucks, but it's kind of like how (modern) handhelds also need to be replaced after a while. Well, it's not that bad, because you only have to replace the control part, not the entire system. Certainly the size and general 'feel' of them is closer to a 3DS than a regular console controller, so that makes sense, life-span wise. It still sucks, of course. I'd say just use a Pro Controller (will probably hold up a lot longer and is just as expensive) or the GCN controller if you're playing TV mode. It's a funny contrast with the GCN controller by the way. I've been using mine for over 15 years and it still works perfectly (bar the rubber thingy on the left stick missing). And that one has seen a lot of use from multiple people (kids, no less) over 4 different console gens (GCN, Wii, Smash Wii U and now Switch).

Not a joke, suits with game prints are not a new thing. There's already been Pokemon dress shirts a while ago, a Monster Hunter tie line, suits with Tetris Blocks or Pac Man stages on them, among others.

If anything, I'm a little surprised it's taken this long. I'd get the watch. The tie is a little tacky but that's totally the type of thing that ends up being an unused gift anyway. The prices are not insane so there's that at least.

I might try to just repair the things after getting a new set. I would have tried that already if they didn't use trilobe screws. It really seems like it's the sensors that are the problem. I wore down the R button on my DS, I could tell that it was having problems because it was mushy. This one is just as clicky as the L button but it doesn't work 90% of the time. It's total phantom issues with the stick and d-button. One of their suppliers is probably giving them garbage internal components.

The graphics are way worse than I was expecting for the Switch's big all new Pokemon, it just looks like a spruced up version of the 3DS games. The Switch can do much better I'm sure, this reeks of flat out laziness and cheaping out. But at least it does look way better than the 3DS games and the theme this time is really cool.

I don't think the graphics are fully finished, though.
