Got an insanely powerful PC. And got Resi 8 to try it out as it's the first game to give it a good work out.
And yet, I'm playing way more Live a Live. Always wanted to play it but was put off by the graphics and how weird it sounded but the recent retronauts made me give it a go.
It's not perfect, lots of little annoying issues but the scenarios are so short that they never get in the way of enjoying the game. I love how it feels like an experimentation with what you can do with the RPG genre as each scenario does something completely different. I finished the Caveman, kung fu and Wrestler scenarios. On to the Ninja one which is good fun. You can play it completely in stealth but I got tired of that and am going around slicing people up. As the whole area is open you have to pick fights wisely and use the battle system as you can get into fights you are way underlevelled for.

Looks like that Garage game is yet another Switch game that's only digital in Europe. I know it's not a full-priced release, but man, if even Nintendo's starting to do this... Since there's not much news going on - does anyone else have any playtime lists/images from any of your systems? Doesn't have to be Switch. Just for the hell of it I looked at my list on Switch sorted by most time played, and I noticed it's completely wrong. I mean, I knew it was going to be wrong, since the times listed next to the games on my user profile on Switch are also wrong for the most part, but they're wrong in a different way than this list, interestingly. I think the list below is sorted only by playtime starting with january 2020 (when I got my new Switch from Nintendo), while the user profile list has different times listed depending on the game: Some games had their times reset in january 2020, so they just list the time I spent with the game since then. Some have the old times listed, but they won't be updated until I've crossed that treshold again (e.g. when Splatoon 2's listed would go from 700 to 705 hours, that would mean I've played the game for ~1405 hours). Some just continue counting as if nothing happened. That's strange enough, but it's even weirder that the list below apparentely ignores that user profile list and just goes by the times spent since jan 2020. So that pretty much makes this screenshot nearly meaningless. I think Splatoon 2 is the only one in the right spot. Next should be Smash, then ACNH, then BotW and then DQXI I think. After that, who knows. Also, is it easy to get screenshots on your PC? I can only find an option to get stuff on a smart device or to post it on social media. Proboards doesn't take images unless they're linked somewhere, so it's fastest for me to just post them on twitter and link them there.

Live A Live is the only multi-scenario game where each one actually is radically different. Most of them couldn't really sustain a full length game so the shortness isn't a liability. I'm a little surprised that a remake wasn't announced along with SaGa Frontier and Legend of Mana since SE renewed/filed a trademark for it months before they did for SF and LoM.

Stuff I've only had open for minutes is listed after compilations I've spent hours on. Mine isn't actually interesting since I have barely any physical games (which stay in the list) and almost always deleted finished downloads so there's barely anything in it.

That list is from system data rather than player data as I understand it, hence mine being dominated by games my partner plays like Pokemon. I'm not aware of any software issues with the timer in general. The only thing I do know is that it continues counting as long as the game is open - that includes when the system is in sleep mode. Other than that, mine appears to be correct, but it's not like I time my playtime myself so I couldn't be 100% sure and it's possible of course bugs are tied to specific software. 🧀Son of Suzy Creamcheese🧀 - For transferring images from Switch to PC it's as easy as plugging it in through USB, selecting an option to transfer files on the Switch and then dragging and dropping the files on the computer. Nearly as easy as transferring from a phone or USB drive except for the one extra step there. Of course you need them uploaded somewhere if you want to post on here, it's certainly not going to be as quick as posting your images on Twitter. I have all my posts for this site on their own imgur account since I tend to avoid popular social media. Anyway, from previous Nintendo experience I was prepared to jump through a bunch of hoops to get to the images, but was pleasantly surprised they did things the normal way. As for your list, it's nice to see Phantasy Star so high up. I know you loved that game.

The system timer doesn't count when it's in sleep mode. Like I said in the other thread, some lower profile and mainly indie multiplatform games don't take sleep into account to stop their internal timer, but the system one does. I literally never close a game unless I'm deleting it or switching to a different one, and none of the system times are weird. However, after perusing the play log times, it's only the streaming service Hulu that seems out of place. I only ever used it for a few minutes to see how it worked with a controller. That doesn't use profiles so I can't look in the log so verify what it's actually listing.

I had seen your post in the other thread but I didn't grasp it, but I think I understand it this time.

Tried Heaven's Vault, a science fiction adventure game centered around archeology and deciphering an ancient language. That aspect is nice, but for some reason the developers decided you needed to literally sail through space on "rivers" and that part is sadistic. The map is ridiculous complicated for how few locations there actually are, I looked at an overall game map, and if you miss a turn, you might have to loop around practically half the map. It doesn't help that there's pops and skips every few seconds that makes going in the wrong direction overly trivial. After 45 minutes of trying to get between two places, I had to throw in the towel.

Got an open world driving game craving and picked up a copy of the original Test Drive Unlimited for the 360. Really addicted to it right now, despite certain niggling issues with the handling (though it seems less of a botch and more of an intention to make the driving less arcadey--I spin out of control many times at faster speeds when I turn off the driver assistance option)
The 2nd TDU game added a story mode, but this first game, where you pretty much do whatever you want, when you want, or just ignore all the races and challenges and drive around the island casually (it can take almost an hour to circle the island even at your fastest drive, this map is still one of the biggest maps in a racing/driving game ever) has a really compelling pull to it that even some of the later superior open world driving games lack.
I hear there is a fan-patch for the PC port which adds about 800 cars or so amongst other additions so I may try that once I'm done with "vanilla" TDU1.

The getsu fuma den game released today on early access. It seems very polished for a early access game. It looks gorgeous and plays really well. One issue is the hit effects can make reading enemy tells difficult. It's quite like dead cells and could be really good.
As a bonus they also threw in the original game emulated by M2. A nice little extra.

I've been doing some R-Typing over the weekend. I did some playthroughs of the original but also managed to get through R-Type Final for the first time. I took previous advice and started with the easiest difficulty - 'Baby's'. Not quite sure on that label, but I guess it was easy by genre standards. I really liked the level design, and especially some of the evolutions of bosses from the original game I found really interesting. It is unfortunate that the framerate drops so low, so often, however. As is, we get a nice glimpse at what could have been a great game without such issues, but whilst I enjoyed it enough to be worth my time, I will put this in the good, not great category.

I give out a out it a lot but it's more from disappointment as I'm a massive R-Type fanboy and every game in the series has been amazing. I hadn't been so let down by a game since sparkster on the megadrive was merely ok and the snes version ended up better.

I get sequel disappointment for sure. Not a related game but my most disappointing sequel was Marvel vs Capcom 3 and I am similarly negative about it. I really hate it and can't stress enough how hideous I find it. I really can't think of any other instances off the top of my head though.

I remember just being hyped beyond all reason about Final for the longest time. As to be expected it didn't live up to all that hype but I still played the damn thing for ages and unlocked everything. I've been getting into hearing people put together analysis retrospectives of many games I played in the past and boy has it shown me I just plain had so much patience for bullshit back then. Still, Final was alright and still has interesting things about it even today. Doesn't hold a candle to Delta though.
I'm really happy to hear Final 2 seems to be pretty good. Believe I'll pick that up soon, it's gonna be like meeting back up with an old friend.
