www.hardcoregaming101.net/samurai/samurai.htmI think this'll be the last ancient Sega game this update. Samurai is from 1979, making it one of their earliest titles. I think I translated the death message correctly ("Munen ato wa tanomu" = 'Regrettably I leave it to you"). Also, weirdly, the Saturn version has a sun in the upper right corner of the screen, while the MAME version does not. However, I'm hesitant to say it was added to this version - the MAME version also lacks sound, so it's not entirely accurate. The flyers do show the sun in that position, so maybe they were supposed to be there.

"It's strange and first" > at first "samurai strategy sims" > that may be a bit of an overstatement, these games have more than just samurai. "Strategy sims with samurai" or something like would probably be more accurate.
Also, I don't understand, you don't mention any port in the article, what's this Saturn version then?

Oops! It looks like I accidentally uploaded an older version of the article (or, rather, forgot to upload the revised version) which mentions the Saturn version. Will fix it!

Well not necessarily early since Sega had been around for thirty years when this game came out and been making arcade video games for at least five.

Their first video game seems to have been Pong-Tron in 1973, so make that seven.

To be honest, I'm not entirely convinced the Sega Ages date is the accurate one. The guys who put that together might have just gone with the copyright date rather than the actual release date. Enterbrain's Sega Arcade History lists it for March 1980.
