I used the only service I knew has autobot sniping, japan to door. Theres probably better but I didnt think there would be too much of a difference, but will suss it out. I normally use another one which is relaxed on refunds and realy cool people.
JTD charges you paypal fees but is 15% on top of local tax and all this other crap.
Theres other sites which are good for smaller items, and in this case it would have saved me a bit of a slice, but very restrictive on how much you can send at once, and don't have reputation like the more expensive ones.

I don't understand why you have a problem with him donating that much money. He obviously cares enough about GARAGE to do whatever he can to get it uploaded faster, just as I am trying to get some money donated as well. Honestly, cc0, you aren't giving too many reasons to have confidence in this fundraising campaign, Especially since overpaying was an accident on your part, not due to a bidding war. And even if the bid did get inflated, you're taking out justice on the users of this forum, who didn't make a bid on it. I would suggest presenting the fundraiser to the /vr/ thread, but that just seems like asking for trouble, considering they were so desperate to buy it themselves. Now I understand that you are the rightful owner of GARAGE, and you have every right to do what you please, but the goal of $250 dollars just seems inarguably high for a game as little known as this. Anything you could do to help us all out, Spreading the word to other gaming sites, giving donators some confidence about their donation, heck even contacting some let's players about this strange and obscure experience could do wonders for your campaign. Just give it some thought.

He told /vr/ about his fundraiser campaign when it was first posted. As expected, nobody's contributed yet, but when the game finally comes in, it's possible that something will happen. The goal has been lowered from $250 to $150, so that's a plus.

Thats why i didn't want him to put so much money on, cause its not his duty to pay it back. The whole thing is sloppy, but the important part is im getting it. The plus of having an inflated bid due to internet is that the seller is less likely not to ship it cause its so huge. But either way I'm not gratifying the same cloud without at least a little back. I did get a free membership deal with japantodoor though. worth like 40 bucks. Cool. I think i could have saved a little if i had it before hand.
Still waiting to receive it at my proxy address, making me nervous.

Thats why i didn't want him to put so much money on, cause its not his duty to pay it back. Then whose duty is it to pay it back? Because holding this fundraiser with the release of Garage held as a carrot at the end of a stick implies that you want someone to pay, lest Garage's release not be a thing. I'm going to agree with legofan94 that I have very little confidence in this fundraiser, because it not only has stemmed from your lack of knowledge as to how bidding sites work (you shouldn't be angry that someone matched your maximum bid, because you agreed to potentially pay that price when you put it up), but you are also taking a VERY treasured and coveted piece of history that any number of other people from /vg/ would have bought, and holding it hostage pending payment. It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, if I can be honest. I have a feeling that others also feel the same, but are afraid of rattling your cage and compromising the potential release of Garage. I WILL say that I sympathize with your situation as you didn't know what you were getting into when you made such a high maximum bid, and I will donate some money your way once the ISO is ripped and released online.

Oh dear. Guys. I have terrible news. We're going to have to act fast if we want to avert potential disaster. After consulting a friend about GARAGE's Current situation, we risk the game getting turned away at the border by the postal system. cc0 Forgive me if I'm being to forward but the forum needs to know if you are Australian. The Fundraising campaign says it's located there, and I fear that this may need to be understood. the Australian postal service has a list of banned imports from foreign countries, which includes: Pornography and other objectionable material (restricted import) The given definition is as follows Includes publications, films, computer games and any other goods that describe, depict, express or otherwise deal with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime cruelty, violence, terrorist acts or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in such a way that they offend against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by reasonable adults. if anyone isn't already aware: this is the box art for GARAGE i.imgur.com/0iMsDn4.jpgIf the Australian government sees that, I'm all but certain it will be turned away at the border.cc0, you're going to have to act fast, and carefully if you want to receive this package. According to the resources I have looked at, you may need a permit for it's import from the "Director Classification Branch". You can find the contact information on the second link included. you're going to have to present a request to the censorship board, giving a convincing reason for why you want this material. I would Refrain from discussing your intentions to rip the ISO, and they do not say that it cannot simply be for personal use. cc0, do you have any knowledge of the materials shipped with the game? did you only receive a CD in a jewel case, or did you get a full box with manual included? Because you may be able to get away with receiving the game without any hassle. If you want my personal opinion, I would say you were going to use the game's small robotic characters as a key component on a University, or Graduate school Essay on "The Effect of The Industrial Revolution on Traditional Japanese Mythology and Folklore", and provide screenshots or video of thee game that do not include Evidence of the naked women, saying that a great deal of the game's content is important enough to deserve scholarly evaluation. If you do a good job, Be smart, be clear, and be polite, I'm sure you will get garage without any difficulty. If you need help on this sort of thing, send me a PM and I can help you compose a serious request. Please respond back as QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. the last thing we want is to have this turned away at the border. God-damned Japanese-techno-fetishisim. This is just going from bad to worse. Yes, he is located in Australia. I think we can call in Kal to see how Australia typically handles things like this. The "obscene material" in importing applies to pretty much every country out there, but here in America no one really gives a damn unless they suspect you of trafficking child pornography. The amount of packages that come into most countries means that very, VERY few are actually inspected. And the box art is certiainly weird, but even though I don't have the highest opinion of customs officials, I don't think they're going to think it's something obscene.
In other words, I think you're freaking out about nothing.

Forgive me if I'm being to forward but the forum needs to know if you are Australian. I know for a fact that he is (I am too) though I seriously doubt there will be any issues with customs. Typically, they will turn back explicitly pornographic material (like hentai manga/games); I really don't think there will be a problem with Garage's rather subtle (in my opinion) sexual undertones.

Well thanks for the response back guys, I just have a paranoid Friend on my back who would kill for this game. dycaite, the thing is, Garage has Full frontal Female nudity on the box. If the guys at customs are going to rip open packaging to look at it, they would see the game for what it is. Another thing is that the people who check out the game will literally know nothing about it, since we're the ones who have made an effort to research this game, and Jack all is available online about it. And if you Really think that THIS: Is evidence of subtle sexual undertones, I think you have another thing coming. Basicly the question I have is, my friend says that the people at customs rip open every international box, which I do not believe to be 100% true, and I'd like any Australians present to reply with an answer.

I don't see why anyone should be worried. I doubt the people in charge of shipping will give a fuck about the game's box art. Even if they did, it would already be too late to point this stuff out. cc0 said that it would take about a week for the game to get shipped, and it's already been 5 days since the auction ended.

In my opinion, the cover art is no worse than a tastefully done artistic nude, so yes, I would call it subtle in its sexuality. It's not like she has her legs spread; anyway, her privates are largely covered up by shadows. I honestly think you're being a tad paranoid; Australia =/= North Korea. Heck, I once got a bong through Australian customs, no questions asked.

Thanks dycaite, Paranoia's been dwelled. I'm just the type of guy who can irrationaly get stressed by anything. It just would have been a frikkin' Travesty to see a game like garage get returned to the auction house, or heaven forbid be destroyed.
Now all we've gotta do is wait a few more days.

You can barely see her nipples and there's no other sexual explicit elements, it comes down to the individual customs inspector but the laws in Australia typically revolve around things that are either import illegal (so, turning away copies of Mortal Kombat 9 while it was RC) or things that are dubiously legal to begin with (Lolicon, Hardcore S&M etc). The idea that customs opens every single package is absurd given the amount of manhours that would take as we have a lot of transit, personally I don't think anything I've ordered has ever been opened by customs. There's no concern here UNLESS some over zealous officer decides it must be illegal but it's a PC game from the early 90s and it wouldn't be on any seize lists and even a cursory search would reveal it's on the level.
