Scorched Earth - The artillery game. Worms can suck it, Scorched Earth is where it's at. Jetpack - Kind of similar to Lode Runner, Jetpack is a single-screen action/maze game about collecting crystals to open the exit to a stage, while grabbing as much gold as you can and avoiding enemies and hazards. The twist? You have a goddamn jetpack motherfucker. This one is really fun! It's freeware these days, but used to be shareware if memory serves. Very good game! Seconding Scorched Earth, what a great game. Basically that's all we did in any of the highschool classes where we had access to a computer. Snarboo played Christmas Jetpack on the Christmas livestream. Which I am still planning to finish editing, it's just really that bad. Including the part with Jetpack because the screen itself requires censoring. My votes for Shareware games are a couple of ASCII-based ones - we NEED to do some ZZT, and Castle Adventure - CA is what I associate most with the early Shareware scene (mid to late 80s) where you either got shit off a BBS or were lazy like us and paid someone at a store (in Indianapolis, there was a freaking store dedicated to this, not sure about others) 2 bucks to make a copy for you.

I'm happy to say that I've downloaded and installed almost everybody's requests so far, so they'll be ready to show once the stream starts on Saturday. However, I can't seem to find The Last Eichoff for a version of Krypton Egg that runs, so if anybody can direct me to either of those, I'd really appreciate it. Keep those requests coming, guys!
Also, since we here at GC9X appreciate your feedback, I'd like to ask: I don't think this sort of thing has gotten this much attention until now. For those of you who have posted, did you post because of the change from "GC9X Power Party" to "GC9X Livestream"? I only used the second one because the first one wouldn't fit, but if you were interested in the title change, I might see about making it pernament.

Krypton Egg is readily available – legitimately! – on DotEmu these days. Why it hasn't turned up on GOG or Steam yet, I have no idea. A more obscure option would be Crystal Hammer. An alternative to Scorched Earth would be Blast Doors, a relatively stylish attempt to replicate the game in 3D – but nothing quite compares to the original. As far as ASCII games go, Bernard the Bard (a Megazeux board) ranks in my top 10 gaming experiences. The original author is trying to make a "redux" version with a few bits cleaned up, but I think it's still in the works. I also hear Pyro 2 is pretty awesome. Or perhaps Starship Invasion ?

The version of Krypton Egg on this site will work (it's the old DOS shareware demo, not a full version, so there should be no problems using it even though there is apparently a modern version of the game available). You need to run the installer first, which will install the game into whatever folder you have mounted in DOSbox as the root of your C:\ drive.

I screwed up, so I'd like to make a small correction: The stream will start tommorow at 10 PM EST/9 PM CST. I've changed the first post of the thread and the other post for this event to rectify the error. The stream will start tommorow at: www.livestream.com/robertenaytor Please send your final requests in before then!

I dug up one of my old Shareware discs and went through to see if theres anything interesting and I did come up with games worth showing off. Pekka Kana 1 - A Apogee-like platformer from a small Finnish indie-developers from the days before indie developers were a thing. LinksStixworld - Very creative adventure-platformer that takes place in someone's notebook. LinkNatuk - CRPG where you control a band of orcs on a quest to overthrow their tyrannic leader. Quite an unusual RPG. LinkDeluxe Ski Jump 2 - Ski-jumping game from Finland. This is the oldest one available and they're still making sequels to this. LinkUncle Julius and the Anywhere Machine - Adventure game for little kids. LinkNuclear Deterrence - Old top-down adventure game from the same people who did Cult. ( Link provided by yours truly) Pekka, Stixworld and Deluxe Ski Jump 2 work on Dosbox, while the other 3 are Windows-based games. I didn't have any problems with installing and running them on Windows 7 though, with the exception of messed up colors on the starting screen on Natuk.

Thanks to everybody who showed up! The stream should be up on Youtube in the next couple of weeks, hopefully. I think this went pretty well, so I've got a few ideas for more streams like this, too.

...I kinda wish I didn't attend. Even I can't tell what the hell I'm saying. You sound just fine dude. Having gone through it again I feel like an asshole for accidentally calling you by the wrong name that one time (I was pretty drunk though). PS I took your comment about the animu ghosts and made that picture in the last frame .

As noted during the Jetpack section, here is the custom level we played during the Christmas stream! Simply drop this is in a folder called "Levels" inside of the main X-Mas Jetpack folder. Keep in mind this is slightly NSFW, and I have no idea if this will work with any other version of Jetpack.

This is now only gameplay footage of Stixworld on Youtube. Hell, this stream is probably only good information of Stixworld on the whole internet.

I didn't watch the stream, but I can confirm the level works fine in the normal version of Jetpack (which is free BTW: www.adeptsoftware.com/jetpack/ ) It's also rather pointless. I gather that was the... point?
