Just found this one yesterday, it isn't super blatant but the intros are really similar
Herzog Zwei: Sleight of Hand
Super Famicom Wars: Battle Theme 2

I wouldn't say that ones plagiarism. Its similar style, but completely different bass lines and melody.

Then again, Led Zeppelin plagiarized a lot of music themselves so I guess this is only fair.

Best part is both were done by the same guy: Masaru Nakajima. And hey - at least A Great Ordeal is basically Far Beyond The Sun but actually audible, so I give him that. Man, I love comparing the two - it's just so... lame!

Here's a somewhat popular example.
In general I give the benefit of doubt to a lot of the plagiarisms on this thread, guessing at least a few are just coincidence. But it's still fun to see the comparisons, and a number of them are absolutely rip offs, so hey, good thread!

I was listening to the Nayuta no Kiseki's soundtrack (AGAIN!) and... did Falcom just totally copy this Xenosaga I song or is this based off of a classical piece I'm not aware of? Because god damn.

Similar intro and rhythm:
Eighth Wonder - Stay With Me
Iridion 3D - Stage 1 (Manfred Linzner)
Similar Bassline:
Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart
Hostages - Action (Charles Callet)
If you are all wondering how someone my age would know this much about 80s UK music, here's how:
Rick Astley - Together Forever
Chrono Trigger - Robo's Theme (Yasunori Mitsuda, Nobuo Uematsu)
Thank you Internet for the rickroll. I have decided to feature Together Forever instead because I think it is better than Never Gonna Give You Up, while they both sound the same.

Holy crap. How did I not notice that before?! My big music plagiarism discovery (which I'm surprised I haven't mentioned in this topic yet!) is from an obscure action RPG on PS1 called "Community POM." It's actually a really fantastic game, and the music is very upbeat and cheerful... but the overworld theme always sounded familiar to me. Then one day it hit me: It's "La La (Means I Love You)" by The Delfonics. Like, almost note for note -- just sped up A LOT. Once you hear it, you can't unhear it... and there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the composer was straight-up copying that song. Unfortunately, I can't demonstrate this for you because my YouTube upload of the overworld theme from Community POM had to be taken down... after it got flagged by the music entity representing The Delfonics. (Incidentally, the boss theme from Community POM straight-up lifts its sting from the Dragnet theme, too -- though that one is far more blatant and comes across less as plagiarism and more as homage.) -Tom

Falcom music "plagiarism" part 3.
I wouldn't exactly call it plagiarism, but I'd say it definitly was the inspiration for the Brandish opening. Random Brandish trivia: Brandish Renewal (i.e. re-release of the original game with "remastered" music) has a completely different opening track, which would later be re-arranged for The Dark Revenant.
And then there's the SNES port. The opening theme for the Japanese SNES (well, SFC) version is actually the same song from the original PC-98 version from 1991, whereas the US version also has another different opening theme. So weird! Holy crap. How did I not notice that before?! I sense that you just aren't as TOTALLY OBSESSED with Falcom music as you should be!!

Similar lead melodies: Master of Monsters (Genesis) - Black Dignity (Hayato Matsuo, Hitoshi Sakimoto) Katawa Shoujo - Painful History (Andy Andi, Sebastien Skaf) They sound like the same song in two different genres (and on two different forms of music generation), dontchathink? If this was ever plagiarism, this has got to be some of the most emotional plagiarism ever. The next one's even better, and possibly the funniest I'll ever know in a while: Jimmy Cliff - Under The Sun, Moon and Stars Mother 3 - Open Sesame! (Shogo Sakai)
