www.hardcoregaming101.net/xanadu/xanadu.htmLooks like this doesn't have a thread yet. I've played quite a bit of the Saturn version for more screenshots, and boy, is this game a slog! I like the concept, but the grinding is just too much. And I think the Saturn version might even have been toned down a little bit in that regard...

Faxanadu is said to be to some people as "Zelda 2 done right".
Also, with regards to "soon-to-be-released Zelda 2", it had already been out for 10 months in its native Japan.

Many unfortunate people have surmised that these games had something to do with the much maligned '80s Olivia Newton John movie by the same name - as one might guess, this is not the case. While I never thought they had anything to do with each other, that stupid song does always get stuck in my head when I see articles about the game. I have the two Turbo CD games, but have never gotten around to playing them. Just more titles in my huge "to-do" list I suppose. Nice read though.

Oh, I forgot! Legend of Xanadu was actually released for DOS in Korea. Screenshots added now.

How things change in only a few months: Xanadu Next's PC version finally has a Western release on Steam, and it appears to be well-received.

The problem I have with the side-scrolling areas in The Legend of Xanadu is that the player is too close to the edge of the screen before scrolling is activated. This is what makes the Snes and Megadrive versions of Popful Mail (and Exile 2 on the PC Engine) more or less unplayable to me. Ys3, Zelda 2 etc. got it right.
