Any fans of Shinji Hosoe AKA MEGATEN, Ayako Saso AKA AYA, Nobuyoshi Sano AKA sanodg, and Takayuki Aihara AKA J99 here? As a resident of Rotterdam, where Hardcore Techno was a really big thing, I really liked the tributes these people were doing for great games like Ridge Racer. If you were a fan of the hard Belgian, Dutch or German techno in the 90s you'd most likely like the early Ridge Racer soundtracks. J99, Takayuki Aihara's nickname is of course a take on T99, an early hardcore techno act from Belgium. There's a sample from the Rotterdam act Holy Noise's "Get Down Everybody" in Rhythm Shift... I'll posts some of my favorite videos later...

I recognize the first two, at least. But not because of Namco. You've probably heard the story from me before, about Arika and SuperSweep and all of those sorts of things... Anyway, big Technictix fan here - have not listened to any Ridge Racer. Will be sure to check it out.

Just what was the relationship between Technictix and Technic Beat anyway? Sequel, or just a market-based rename?

Just what was the relationship between Technictix and Technic Beat anyway? Sequel, or just a market-based rename? Technic Beat was the sequel. I think it was also the only one released in North America. Added some Namco remixes, too, I believe.
