www.hardcoregaming101.net/cvbook/cvbook.htmOur third book has been released, after being in the works for...well over two years. As noted, some of the content is adapted from the Castlevania Dungeon, which I started when I was fifteen (literally half a lifetime ago for me), but most of it is brand new. It's available on Amazon US and UK (should be available on other European sites shortly) and the PDF files are available directly from Sellfy: sellfy.com/p/568x/You also get access to digital copies of all three books if you're a Patreon contributors $5 or above.

Bought the PDF took a look so far.
Obviously there were printing space issues, but sometimes a few more words could have been dedicated to some details, like the fact Mirror of Fate HD excises most of the QTEs, or the surprising analogies between several passages of Rondo of Blood of Rusty, despite the latter being released a few months earlier. I've also looked at the Koumajou Densetsu chapter and it seems to just skim unfairly over the second episode: I agree it's hardly a paragon of level design, but compared to the first episode (which I couldn't stand beyond the first boss fight) it's much more than the just slight improvement the chapter implies to be. This treatment seems to extend to getting the player character's name wrong: it's Sakuya, servant of Remilia Scarlet, and she actually wields a dagger. Compared to the care that transpires from the rest of the book, I feel that quite jarring.
That said, the overall package looks fantastic and I can't wait to have more time to read it accurately.
[Return of Egypt *has* a map, by the way]

Well, disagree about the second Touhouvania, I played them both recently, and while the second is better, the level design is still bad bad bad. Everything else will have to wait for a revised edition.
The Rusty review was taken from HG101 and was originally about twice the size, but I couldn't justify four pages for a "clone" game, longer than some of the real Castlevania titles, so it needed to be cut down.

That Dracula on the cover is super badass and I want him in a game now.
Will definitely buy this in the coming months.

Finished reading this. It was good! A great retrospective of the history of the Castlevania franchise that does a good job hitting the key praises and criticisms of the various games in the series. I also liked the movie monster sidebars, and I appreciate the attention given to Castlevania clones and fangames as well.

Wow, that's kind of a dick move on their part. I can understand wanting to protect their property, but given what they've done with Castlevania lately, "protection" seems like the wrong word.

If anything, they should effin pay you for making a book like this, help spreading the word and educating newcomers of this pretty important part of Konamis history. Instead of forcing you to take it down they should thank you, IMO. And help promote the book! Like, "Hey, look what our fans did! This book is the biggest tribute to our franchise ever and we're super excited about it!" . But no. This is 2014. They're stuck in the 90's. But not in a good way. Anyway, I'm glad I already picked up the book. It's a pretty amazing read. Love it

That's a load of shit. No matter how many times I see companies force the death of labor-of-love fan projects (that can really only do the IPs good) I can never get used to it.
